Hello! Please tell me if DiffFM works directly with fligtmodel/...fmd files and if so, where should I put them? I tried everything and placed them in the DiffFM folder itself both in STD and in gui/game and it just didn’t work in MoDS :(

You need to compile your flight model (.fmd and .emd) files using NTRKwizard, otherwise the game can't use them.
I seem to remember that someone once tried to create a mod to read flight models straight from text files, but I can't find the details nor the status of that project anymore.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this...

It is not really clear what you mean by working directly with flightmodel/...fmd files.
As far as the usual external FM file (those encrypted files without extension such as "mynewplane_FM") are concerned they can go directly in your mod plane folder together with the hashed class files or in the gui/game folder together with the buttons or in a specific folder inside your MODS folder.  Otherwise if you want to use the simple unencrypted FM files you need a different mod that used to be called FM from text. I have an FM from text version that I was using to quickly check flight models but it could work only with 4.10 encryption (mod activated and DBW versions) and will print the FM parameters on screen thus not really usable for normal game play.

I can't find the post.
But I never managed to get it to work under 409.  :(

you can't find the post because at the time we couldn't openly discuss these subjects in the forum (one of the reason behind the FreeModding spin off). I am away from my main PC so I don't have all my archives with me but I have the source  java for the 4.10 version.

Now all this is from 2011-12 so i need to search a bit but I remember that it was just a few lines of code to be inserted in the FligthModelMain.class so it shouldn't be too difficult to make a 409, UP2 and Mod activated, version from scratch .

here is my post on the subject https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,27445.0.html

Thanks for your help, it looks like the "FlightModels" folder should be in the same folder as the file 294ABC86A89FAEB4

yes but this mod was conceived to be used with DBW1.71 so I don't think it will work with any 409 version

I checked the specific 409 code of the Class (FligthModelMain.class) and the version given for DBW (FM From FMD DBW).
There are too many differences and the DBW version adds many codes specific to 410.

"Buttons" DiFF-FM
« Reply #46 on: September 01, 2024, 10:32:32 PM »

Hi all! Since I don’t know how to create “class” files, I came up with this semi-DiffFM mod, based on DiffFM from the aviaskins website. In which, instead of "class", any additional "buttons" files are used.

Is not very clear to me what you would like to achieve with this mod and in which way this should be an improvement? It seems to me a very complicated way to add a new FM.

In your download you are also adding a folder with a very old ntrkwizard to create and/or modify FM taken from the FreeModding site while we have improved tools for the same end here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42832.0.html
