I don't think any other plane on the PC has ever made me feel so small as the F-14 has.  I have Dino Cattaneo's model and it is a BEAST.  I must say, the Best FSX (You will not believe this is freeware) mods of the year are.
Dino Cattaneo's  F-22 Stealth  http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15293/fsx-acceleration-lockheed-martin-f-35-lightning-ii-v210/
Dino Cattaneo's  T-34 Goshawk  http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15292/fsx-acceleration-boeing-bae-t-45c-goshawk-v232/
Dino Cattaneo's F-14 http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2940/fsx-acceleration-grumman-f-14d-tomcat/
Ants airplanes T-28A is Donationware.  http://www.antsairplanes.com/
  These are my current faves.

Have a nice weekend.

I have FSX but prefer to fly airliners on FS9 because of all the addon programs and super-detailed scenery and effects:

All the airports by Aerosoft and similar.
AES Airport Environment.
Flightdeck Companion, which loads a fully interactive Flight Crew and Checklists.
Proflight Emulator - For 'live' ATC across an entire IFR flight.
Flightsim Commander - Flightplanning
Flightsim Keeper - Detailed Logbook and recording
Real Environment Extreme
XPAX - Passenger boarding and management

Preflighting an airliner and activating each program in sequence takes about thirty minutes.

Most addons have made the step to FSX now, but I still get better performance and reliability with FS9 maxxed out.  Stability is also absolutely critical for airline flights of two hours or more.

...and a bit of recreational flying...

I fly it, I actually prefer it over Il-2 in every single way except weapons....  :(

It is much more realistic than IL-2 will ever be since the Il 2 engine is much older than FSX one and I don't think it can handle many things in FSX....

The FM's are very realistic and the controls enable you to do everything in, for example, a B747, like fllushing the toilets and turning on the seatbelt signs!  ;D

And there are literally THOUSANDS of aircraft for it, maybe even hundreds of thousands... But realistically 10.000+ is a good shot.

The graphics system is almost overhauled, new map textures, all sorts of effects and lighting improvements.

Basically it's a perfect sim...

But no guns for the mil aircraft, which is the only major downfall. And the reoccuring fact that there are no damage models.

Im enjoying some freeware from flyawaysimulations atm.

I wish that FSX was freeware itself. Otherwise I'd get it!

Ay, has everyone forgotten about the MULTIPLAYER function??? C'mon guys! We could have been flying in formations right now! D:
Ever since game spy stopped working with FSX, we've been using an IP for FSX with direct connect, but I can probably try hosting a server if we need that to happen. :3

FSX formation flying anyone?  8)
