Hi guyd I've been trying to load the mods as per instructions using JSGME. However, every time I get to #TFM412-04_IJN my JSGME freezes and gives the message 'not responding'.

I'm using JSGME v 2.6.0.157. Can anybody give me any assistance please???

Not sure - I know the installations some time take long - but if the ones prior work well  - all others should too.

You only need the files listed and if you do not have them you can download them here

http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/il2/TFM-412/_19xSFS_files.rar

Good luck
Link not working....

Hi Device. I can't quite see the image you posted but your JSGME looks good to me. Don't know much about nukes but there is a discussion on it somewhere in the 119 pages of 412 threads!

Not leaving yourself much wriggle room there on your SSD! I have a clean install version of TFM412 plus a heavily modded version. Plus a 4.12.2+modact 5.30 for testing
and not forgetting my good 'ol DBW-NewTFM(4.10), I think I'm up around 150GB. Doesn't even get close to what some of the guys on here have on their hd.

JSGME is a pain but it's the best if you need to roll back any pack to track any errors in your install.

Hope it's all good now. Happy flying.

All done! and it works.
Previously, I just extracted to #SAS folder and not very successfully.
Now it's good.
BTW, can I tweak the conf.ini file for max graphics effects?  I don't have many trees in some of the maps like Kuban, Crimea...etc

There is a lot of good stuff on here re optimising the conf ini. Take a look in the tech help - using mods section. This link may start you off:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9756.msg185327.html#msg185327

There is other stuff you can tweak in your graphics card (NVidia) but I am way not too clever enough to play around with it.

Hi all, and major thanks to Monty and all TFM's contributors for creating such an awesome modpack (after about 72 man-hours of getting it all working properly - entirely my fault, I hasten to add :-[).

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere in the last 120-odd pages, but how's TFM-412 for backward compatibility? I'm looking for good campaigns at the moment, and there's a lot fewer for TFM-412 than there are for New-TFM or DBW. I can just try campaigns and see if they work, but it's useful to have an idea what's likely to. Besides, it sucks to get halfway through a campaign and *then* have it break on a certain mission :)

As I understand it, New-TFM installs over DBW 1.7, so anything that runs on DBW should run fine on it - does TFM-412 incorporate enough of DBW in those SFS files to make this still true? Campaigns built for stock work fine, I know, and I'm pretty sure I had DCG campaigns working on my last install (one of the many I spent trying to get everything working).

I know this isn't an exact science, and you can't definitively say "All campaigns for X will work fine, all campaigns for Y are broken" or anything - I guess I'm just looking for some pointers in the right direction.

Cheers all, I'll buy you a drink next time I'm in the SAS1946 bar.
Tom

EDIT: Ooh, just FYI I play pilot careers a lot more than individual missions.

I don't think you will have many issue with TFM-412 and old campaign, there are many old Aircraft removed from newer mods/mods pack but are still in TFM.
I think is the same for maps and object so you have just to try yourself ;)

And I can add that you can modify the mission with the Aircraft you want but it's not so easy with maps

I'm pretty sure I have installed ModAct 5.30 and Flyable AI v5.30 correctly. I have copied those UP3.0 and DBW .sfs files into the game's root folder. I started with a Vanilla #SAS folder. The sim loads fine and I can use QMB without and trouble. I'm running into a problem when trying to run a QMB scenario using the MTO map after activating TFM412-01_MAPMODS.

Specifically in QMB I am unable to use the MTO map (it shows it's an option) I get Mission Loading Failed: Landscape MTO/load.ini Loading Error. Have I missed the solution somewhere in the previous 119 pages? I searched and found similar problems with other maps, but I can't find the solution.

Would somebody that can play QMB sorties on the MTO map post a copy of the MTO load.ini from their #SAS | MAPMODS | MAPS | MTO folder? Not that I know what I'm looking at, maybe I'm missing an entry.

I've de-activated TFM412-01_MAPMODS and I regained the ability to fly around the MTO. But the chatter is still in Russian whilst flying an RAF Mossie. Suggestions?

I have not been able to locate the required UP-SFS files.

By the sound of the comments its supposed to be very easy to understand, but for some reason I don't. But by what I gather they have to be handpicked from a certain folder. In my main IL-2 folder I don't have the folder UP.

Is it located within another folder like #SAS or is it scattered around multiple others?

ThePilot4ever,

The SFS files you're looking for aren't present in a standard installation of Il-2 - they're part of mod packs called Dark Blue World (DBW) and Ultrapack (UP). You can find them here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21514.0.html DBW
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23452.0.html Ultrapack

The DBW topic also has a link to a big download that contains both.

Once you've downloaded them, DON'T just install them into your Il-2 directory, it'll screw up your game. Instead, do the following:

  • Install the mods to a temporary folder, it doesn't matter where as long as you know where it is.
  • Search that folder for *.SFS (that's all SFS files) and move / copy the ones you need into your main Il-2 directory.
  • You might also want to hang onto a spare copy of them in a folder somewhere just in case you ever need to reinstall.
  • Delete everything else in your temporary folder, you don't need it.
  • Profit!

Hope that's helpful and not too patronising, I like to keep explanations simple to make sure everyone can get them!

Cheers,
Tom

Or you could just go to this site - http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/il2/bdd2012/ - and download the 19 .sfs files that you need and put them straight into your root directory. Simples ;D
