 :-X I knew that ;D

That's really useful, actually. I've also taken the SFS files from HSFX and dropped them into my SFS_AUTO folder to get all the shinies from there. It's not caused any problems so far, and it's easy to remove without affecting anything else.

btw.: for all who want to avoid double etc. files (especially large files)
read the topic about Symbolic-Links/Junctions/Hardlinks.

Atm I have 7 copies of Il-2 including all the BIG stuff and use symbolic links
(now with win8) across all of them. So I have SFS files only once
but "link" it via symbolic links wherever they are needed.

This is also doable with other large directories or files
like defSkins, Paintschemes skins, samples etc. folders.

Maybe someone will give it a try, read more here:

I'd also add that the "Restore" function in Windows 7 is an excellent tool to use.  I have screwed up a couple of mod installs big-time in the past and have simply used the "Restore" function to have Windows restore the files that were there prior to my screw up.

For those unfamiliar with it.......You have to switch on the Restore function in Windows.  If you screw something up then simply right-click on the folder in question and select "Restore previous version" then it will show you a list of previous saved versions of the folder by date.  You pick the closest date prior to the screw up and it will 'restore' the original files as they were on that date.

I hope;
a. that makes sense, and
b. helps.

cheers,
T

Monty:

WOW!!!  What a compilation.  It took two days on my old crate to get everything rolling and it's like crack.  Really nice job putting it all together.  Thanks

Hello Monty.

On the 2nd go round of downloading/extracting into JSGME and testing game.  Good up until #TFM412-22_Ships2.  With 20 seconds left in extracting into JSGME, the following error message appears:

Cannot remove folder USSSanJacintoCVL30_1944: The filename or extension is too long.  When i hit OK< the extraction process stops.  Any ideas??

thanks,

This TFM is addicting:)))

All works well, except:(

The P47D 1944 still has the canopy opening in the wrong direction.  I followed the notes and fixes and disabled all the folders but still the same result.  Am I supposed to reactivage a certain mod after doing this?

My Reno map is not working in FMB.  I read and did a search for a fix but couldn't find one, I'm sure its out there so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.  Thanks

Hey by the way this is not a big deal compared to the massive amount of other things that were put into TFM.  I can live with out Reno and the P47 for a while.  Also TFM was installed over a Clean install of 1946 4.12.12. If you need to know that

FYI  While I was researching my own issue I ran accross a similar issue that you have.  Something to do with the file name being too long for windows.  I believe who ever posted the issue had it resolved.  I saw it somewhere on this 121 page message board.  try doing a search for it.  If I find it I'll post it for you.

FYI on another subject of TFM,  I noticed that all of the Grumman TBF/TBM Avengers engines start in the wrong direction, and the cockpit canopy s dont open on the exterior.

This is stuff I can live with but I know the modders sometimes like to know that stuff.

happy flying

Hello guys and my biggest congratulations for this new world of sim. I Installed this new TFM-412 and till #TFM412-15_Rabaul all works fine, very amazing. My troubles starts with #TFM412-16_Map-Pack-2.
After the installation of this pack, a large number of maps in QMB (QMBPro V4.12.2m by P.A.L.) not works anymore; i.e. the Crimea maps before the attempt to install the Map-Pack-2 worked fine but after I have this message: "Mission loading failed: "landscape 'Crimea/load.ini' loading error".
Or if it starts (I do not know why a time starts and in another time does not) I flying directly in the navigation chart...
Any suggestions, please?

Many thanks for all your help.

Ciao.

Marco

Try this :
go in #SAS > MAPMODS > MAPS an disable Crimea folder ( rename  it with minus " - "  at beginning )
