One question I would like to ask, would the Ju-88 nightfighters ever be added to TFM? There is no need to patch it up to 4.13 anymore as you guys filled it all in!
If we have a version working well for 412, thanks for reminding me though, they gotta be in there...

Ju-88G-6 with the Tall tail would be nice.  :-\ Also the C-2 is a decent heavy day fighter as well I believe.

Dear Monty,

I try since a long time to send you a personal message but unfortunately your reception box is full.
So I address myself to you here. However be yourself sure that it is without any idea of polemic. ;)

I have just updated your version of the game "4.12 TFM" because I was screeching halt at: 4.12 TFM 27.

Indeed, with my current work on the maps "Can_Channel 40 and 45" as well as on the map
"Bay of Biscay" I had not had time to go beyond.

I am now at the latest version of your game and I really appreciate what you do.

But I notice that by incorporating my mod "Can_Channel_revisited" you have failed to include the mod:
"AIRFIELDS_CAN !!!!!!!!!!!!" that was associated with it.

I know, your assembly work is not easy. It demands a lot of time and concentration.
So in that sense, please accept, Monty, the expression of my best regards.

Thierry.  ;) ;D
Hi Thierry

The Original CAN_CHANNEL 3do Buildings/Fields etc are contained within 'UP_MAPS03.SFS', which TFM-412 uses.  TFM-412 will actually CTD if 'UP_MAPS03.SFS' is not present.

I see you have it as a MOD Package too.  This will now be included as advised.  However, the information is still read first by the SFS file, so this is a double redundancy really.  The maps always looked this good in TFM-412.

The additional map entries will also be as advised and I am using the opportunity to shake down all maps on the MAP.INI list and correct any entries that may still need it.

Thank you for your help Thierry, these Maps look fantastic and now we have the Bay of Biscay too.

Simon

TFM-38 tbauchot Maps
This set includes tbauchot's complete makeover of the original CAN_Channel Maps and Agracier's Bay of Biscay.  This superb treatment raises the quality of these Maps to a new level.

Hi Simon,

Thank you very much for this update !
I have not had time to test all this but there is no doubt that now everything will work perfectly. ;)
I have read your comments on my maps that you have published in my topics.
I'm glad you like these maps and especially that of Biscay which is your favourite one in "moded" IL-2 !  ;)
I now understand why you used it for the sub Campaign: "Battle of Britain" in your wonderful campaign: "The aces of spade".
It's for me one of the most beautiful campaign that I've never played on IL-2 !  ;D
However, your campaign: "Battle of Britain for 4.12 TFM" is a real new challenge! The 4.12 AI is really formidable and unpredictable !  ???
But I like it !  :D

And now a little explanation with pictures about the CAN Airfields :

The original ones are also in my games in SFS files (DBW & HSFX ) . But on the original ones it is impossible to put
ground plates, concretes plates, etc..., on them because at 95% of the time this plates appear in game behind those of the CAN airfields ! ???
So, I had to continue the work of "Gilb" on these plates by modifying them again.
This being done in order to be able to use the plates of the game in place of the original hideous tracks in very low resolution.
So, by placing my folder "!!!!!!!!!!!!AIRFIELDS_CAN" in the folder "#SAS" it takes place of the original one that is in the SFS files...  ;)

An original can airfield (HSFX) :

The same pic in alpha level ( white areas represent opaque areas and black areas represent transparent areas.) :

Now the same airfield in alpha level in DBW or TFM ("Gilb"version. )
There are more black, transparent areas ! So you are able to see the original ground texture... :

And finally, the version that I use : The main track is deleted. It is replaced by the black, so, on this transparent areas
I can put the plates of the game and on the rest of the transparent areas I can put airfields textures :

So now I leave you the pleasure to rediscover all your campaigns based on these maps with a new look and better feel ...

Thank you for your very hard work Monty, and many thanks for all the community of "modders" and "users" !  ;)

Best regards, Thierry.

Hi Monty,
Just to let you know I downloaded No 38 map mods and I have had to unload it through Jsme Because of the following:-
the maps:- The sands of Time, MTO, Italy_Africa_Greece  and agc2_Biscay all stopped loading each time with an error loading map...etc, or campaigns would not load
so I assune that last upload No38 has corrupted some of the map .ini
After 3 hours I gave up not sure if other maps are effected.
Cheers edc1
ps Otherwise up to No37 mod is the greatest ever, I have nearly loaded all my campaigns into TFM 412  from older programs and so far, not to many problems.
Cheers Again

Woah there!  There are VERY FEW 4:12 rated campaigns available.  Any missions made previously (409/410/411) will certainly have to be patched for object code changes and map ID changes.  Likewise, while we are on the subject, QMB requires special missions to be set up and a full inclusive package.

Therefore; the ONLY way, at the moment, to reliably test a new 412 map is to load it into FMB, place some objects and aircraft, save the mission file and fly it.  To this point I can do that on all of the maps in TFM-412.  As we complete this stage the new missions and patched/new campaigns will have to be re-built.  But it will be worth it!

If you have an FMB failure to load/save/etc - we certainly want to know about that.  As we have added objects and even more maps and textures some minor changes have indeed screwed maps and other items if any of us get out of synch or don't have all the right stuff. - Just like the recent Torpedo Fiasco a week ago.

To Patch a mission set or campaign the MAP reference is called for in the top line of the *.mis file (open with a text editor).  You need to replace the line calling for the old version map with the correct line for the map we are using.  In most cases this will work well for the map, although old aircraft lists, loadouts, and objects can still CTD an old mission set.  The full procedure to convert/upgrade a mission set is to patch the map names first then open in FMB and check everything before making a new save.  Then it will be good to go.

So I don't deny you could have a map problem, but lets eliminate the irrelevant and test in FMB, then I'm all ears!  :)

Oh yes!  I used to live in that part of Southern England before moving to Adelaide some years ago.  Weymouth and the South Coast is very well done, as is Cherbourg and NorthWest France, all very familar areas.

The way in which you have enhanced Agracier and Canon_UK's work is superb.

Hi guys, I test the #38 pack, simply wonderful!!!!:) :) :): Super congratulations to Thierry and Simon!!

Hi hope next time some campaign for these wonderful maps!

I take this opportunity to renew my question:
Quote
Hello guys, just a little question: I started a campaign with IJA and I fly with Ki43-1a. I noticed some troubles, eg. throttle, mixture and propeller levers moves right and left instead forward and backward; indications of flight instruments, as anemometer, vertical speed indicator and other are inverted, eg when I dive vertical speed indicator shows climb rate... Someone else has had this problem? Maybe this troubles already solved otherwise there are solutions?

Many thanks for your help.

Ciao!
