Experiment with PALs QMBPRO - Disabling it should re-instate the big maplist.

I got a bit of an idea for a future installment of TFM....any thoughts in putting in the WWI content? Despite it being for an earlier version of IL2 it would still be something for this extension to our beloved 1946.

Just a thought. Seeing as people talk of Rise of Flight and IL2-1916 mod. Seems fair we get the opportunity to have a go at being the Red Baron or a pilot from that era  :-\.

Best to all.

I've gone back to basics and started to reinstall TFM from the start.
Everything went fine until TFM11 and when I tried to run it, I had a RTD at 20%
I have downloaded that patch 3 times now, with my anti-virus turned off in case that was causing any corruption to the files, but still the same 20% failure.
I thought that if I deleted the aircraft in the air.ini file on a temperory basis by putting "//" in front of each aircraft in the patch in turn, I could find which one was causing the problem. If the problem persisted I remove the "//" on the basis that it was not that aircraft causing the problem.
The He 280 does not appear in my air.ini, so I think that this is probably the cause of my problem.
I have looked for a seperate download of the He 280 but can only find skins rather than the aircraft.
Two questions:-
Am I right in my assumptions about the He 280 failing to appear?
Can someone point me to a site where I can download the He 280?
Any help appreciated.

One single package ... It's the only way to make it universal.

Gremlin-4
Read the 1st post complete and do what it says to fix known issures. I have had this package from the day-1 of offering and I and a few others have not had any problems with planes/maps. After you have done all on the 1st page of this thread and still have problems let it be known and maybe/mostlikley I will help.
The 280 I believe is over at freemodding.
As for one pkg. this tfm is a tad too big for that

Thanks Kingsley, I'll do what you suggest (again)! However, I have just noticed that although the HE280 appears on the list of mods under TFM11, it does not appear in the file  for #SAS, so at some time it must have been removed.

Mikoyan99's superb He280 was updated at the time of release, delayed for TFM-11 and included later in TFM-13.

On a side note I have just rebuilt TFM-412 from the ground up in order to test a new kind of install.  Along the way I made every newbie mistake that I have read about here -

Failure to activate AI Flyables, failure to UnRAR cleanly or in the proper sequence, etc etc etc.  The fact is, directly unRAR'd, one at a time, starting with the vanilla #SAS provided, this build still works perfectly.  I did it from scratch twice this weekend, using the files hosted here because I don't keep everything on my hard drive.   It took a little time and I felt frustrated at times.  But it is all there and does all work.

Anyone getting 20% CTDs has missed a step or not UnRAR'd cleanly or has other things in #SAS - case closed.  The ONLY special instruction was the removal of the Phantom II folder due to a total upgrade in TFM-33.  This also worked flawlessly once I slowed down and did each step properly.

When I had my usual million windows open at once and another load of tasks on the go the install was hampered by files not decompressing properly or going where they should.  When installing anything like this it is best to do only this task, in sequence without other tasks interferring or using up resources.

When I took my own advice the new clean install was fine, and a complete backup was also achieved.

Thanks Monty for your advice and all the hard work that you've put in over this tremendous series.
I have followed the instructions, again, to the letter and have been very impressed with the speed the program has loaded at when tested after each mod install.
That is until I got to TFM-412 11 and once more it has RTD'd at 20%.
That's with a new download, with anti-virus turned off and the computer not touched during the down load or install into JSGME.
As all the previous mods have worked so well, it would suggest to me that the system has been set up OK and it is only this mod that is causing problems to my computer.
I have a new hard drive after the previous one failed but before the old one gave up I had installed up to TFM12-25 with no problems.

My "new" TFM-412 install, and another question since my memory just isn't very good.  Back about a week or two ago, somewhere, I read in this forum about changing water settings to the way they used to be.  I think it was changing it from enhanced or something or other.   Today earlier, I tried changing to Water 4 by Carmaster just to see what it would look like.  When I hovered my mouse over it in JSGME it told me in the conf file to change water to 2 also.  Well, I enabled the mod, changed the conf file accordingly, and, lo and behold, my game would not load.  It just kept throwing me back to the selector after it reached 70%.  Thankfully, I have a backup.  Anyway, "way back" two weeks or so ago, I was able to change the water but I didn't have to do those two things I'm pretty sure.  Do any of you here have even an inkling of what I might be talking about?  And what I might have done before that changed the water setting?  Thank you, as always, for any info or advice given.  It is always truly appreciated.

Yes Bob, the water change was due to an animated water tga introduced with a new map and Creature pointed it out and how to remove it.  I'm working on a new update which leaves it out from the start and will be very easy to install.  Keep you posted...

No laugh, it is a ball-ache to start again and for those not with us from the start it is a mighty pain to catch up and do it all at once.

These install problems, and the time it takes, are about to become a thing of the past!  ;)
