hey all,
guess you can say I'm back
finally got a PC that can play the game.
now, before I go too far, let me describe what I've done.
I have two versions of the game right now -
a 4.09m vanilla that is my backup
a 4.09m modded with the SASModact given to me with a bunch of planes I love graciously by a buddy, CWatson.
now, my vanilla game runs great, and all sounds work.
it's my modded one that's acting weird, and Watson said I should message y'all about it.
basically, the two completely modded planes, the Texan and Devastator sound awesome!
everything else is basically thus:
no engine sound in cockpit, little or no gun sound
external - engine sound (but it sounds like in a perma-dive), and no gun sound
yep...
now, what Watson gave me, all the sound files, .ini file, etc everything was "all good." So we're kind of at a loss.
beyond that, even the "vanilla" version sounds aren't all that great, and I have no problem modding my sounds via another mod. But I wanted to talk to everyone here first to see what you guys think. I don't want to start compiling issues basically.
but say, there's a soundmod and UltraPack that solves all this, then sweet!
my laptop can handle it, I'm sure.
here's my laptop stats:
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Processor - AMD e-350
RAM - 3GB - 2.75 usuable
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 6310
so, for an old game like IL-2, it should, and has run the thing like a champ.
now my "soundcard" is a
Conexant SmartAudio HD
