I think I was reading at one time they fly close to 3 meters apart.

According to their website... they approach 18 inches wingtip to canopy separation during the famous "blue angel diamond" ... that's pretty tight...

Albeit Tbh the Blue Angels vids I saw looked very close. But from memory, (IIRC) the Red Arrows score the closest average formation.
