I have very little time for IL-2 right now, due to boring RL stuff, but when I saw this little beauty I couldn't resist knocking together a small campaign for it. It is called "Green Hell of Burma":
You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1968It is a semi-historical, 10-mission campaign, set to start in the middle of February 1943, about the time when the Allies launched the so called First Chindit Offensive, striking in a guerilla-like manner across the Chindwin river, through the jungle, to the Irrawaddy, deep into the Japanese rear. The campaign ends with the coming of the monsoon season in May, which stopped all serious fighting. You are a pilot in a Japanese Army Dokuritsu Chutai (Independent Squadron), equipped with the Mitsubishi Ki-51 "Sonia", single engine light bomber. Your task will be recce, ground support and bombing missions.
Burma had for a long time been treated as a secondary front by the Allied High Command, and had second priority when it came to reinforcements, but even here their strength in the air was growing. But as the most modern enemy equipment was often used elsewhere you still have a fighting chance in your nimble but somewhat aged Ki-51… If you just make it back to the base in one piece, it will be treated as a successful mission.
REQUIREMENTS: The campaign has been built for DBW 1.71 vanilla, and requires no extra downloads except of course this aircraft!
Special thanks goes of course to Ten010 and Da_Don - Great job guys!
