Sea Meteor and Meteor MK.1 Meteor or turboprop
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:02:27 PM »

Please some requests: More variants of Meteor, the Sea Meteor, for carriers and Tend Meteor for fun. ;)

Sea Meteor:

Several Meteor F.3s were converted into navalised Meteors. The adaptations included a strengthened undercarriage and arrester hook. Operational trials of the type took place aboard HMS Implacable. The trials included carrier landings and takeoffs. Performance of these naval prototype Meteors proved to be favorable, including takeoff performance, leading to further trials with a modified Meteor F.4 fitted with folding wings, a 'clipped wing' was also adopted. The Meteor later entered service with the Royal Navy, but only as a land-based trainer, the Meteor T.7, to prepare pilots of the Fleet Air Arm for flying other jet aircraft such as the de Havilland Sea Vampire.

Meteor MK.1 Trent Meteor:

The Trent was based on a concept provided by Sir Frank Whittle and was essentially a Derwent Mark II turbojet engine with an additional turbine stage[citation needed] driving a reduction gearbox (designed by A A Rubbra) connected to a five-bladed Rotol propeller. The Trent ran for 633 hours on test before being installed in a Gloster Meteor jet fighter which flew for the first time on 20 September 1945 at the start of a programme comprising 298 hours of flight tests.

I'm building the Trent Meteor, 1/48 AMT kit and Unicraft 1/48 Trent accessories, and have been wondering that, with further development, the Trent engine could've been developed further, with the Sea Trent being a strike fighter, much like the Wyvern.
