we could definitely use more people with your talents/knowledge, mate.
i might have asked you about this before, just can't quite think now  - but, what is the issue with a working copy of the game?
if need be, i'd be happy to upload a basic working 4.12.2 Modact 530 enabled game for you, it'll just take me a little while to do it, but i don't mind in the least.
it's wrong that a guy of your caliber doesn't have a working copy, for sure....

My copy was on my XP laptop, which has now travelled to digital heaven.

I tried installing the game on my new x64 windows 7 machine but it just threw errors and refused to let me install it. In the end I just deleted the iso in a fit of rage.

Forgetting that the XP machine wasn't acting as my backup.

One of those things. If might be worthwhile trying again if it allows me to do some java work.

Is the AI version not ready yet?

I placed a MiG-21bis and the F-4D in FMB and try to see how the AI behaves.  The F-4 never engaged!!??  Why?

lack of details re: your game version and so on, makes it literally impossible to answer that.
mine don't suffer that problem - they do engage, but usually explode after hitting mach 1 before they can really get down to business, lol.

In FMB, set them a target. They will engage...

I installed the F4 through the TFM cumulative patches for 4.12.2. But the gauges not work and i cant deploy chaffs and flares even if i set up the correct keys. Did i do something wrong? I have to put some more mod? Is there any document on how to deply phantoms armaments?
Thanks

Did you install the Countermeasures mod,  flares only work on the F-4E, cockpit need more info on where you installed the pit

so, no-one have any suggestions/advice as to how i can get my Phantoms safely over mach 1 without disintegrating in a ball of flame...?
even though i'm not a huge jet fan, the Phantom happens to be my favorite jet, and when i do get the urge to fly jets, it's normally my first choice.

That was an issue with earlier versions of the Engine Mod mate. I highly recommend to fly Mig-21s anyway, the FMs are much closer to realistic, ask Bravo. ;)
F-4s in 4.12= absolute fubar.

Thorsten, read through some of my previous (and later) threads, mate - i mentioned twice that i have double and triple-checked that i have the latest Engine Mod, plus western's latest patch.
i specifically checked all this again, due to testing some even newer featured betas that aren't even released yet, and those work just fine.
i also mention that the Phantoms worked fine initially, and since then i have made zip/zero/nada changes to Engine Mod, but they now explode at mach 1, which i can only suspect has something to do with a wrong FM, maybe - but even there, i have tried every different FM available (Vega/Paulus, etc) and no difference - 1000km/h + = ka-boom!
MiG-21's are cool, but i hugely prefer flying a Phantom, as it is my favorite jet.
no working Phantoms = i stick to my trusty prop planes, thanks :D

from my heavy modded 412.2/all the latest mods on how to keep the f4 from blowing up beyound mach1.
1-dl and install the very1st f4 mod
2-dl and overwrite it with the next new one
3-dl and install the canopy mod
4-dl and overwrite with the f4 1.40 which is the latest
5-just below the 00_f4 is a mod called f4 weapons put a - in front of it.
6-I do believe and hope you'll be making backups Hmmmm
7-This is includes the tfm next level all 27 plus fixes if you read the first page. ether thru jsmge or direct install I have done both and the f4 flys and handles fine past mach1 no blowup.
Now if you do not want to do all of this ether e-mail me or pm with your e-mail address and I will send you the 7zip of the f4 in the game above descibed.
P.S.
Do not ask for links from me will not supply it. If you want it and get it you may supply the link for it so the others may fly past mach1 without becoming dust.
I spend most of my time on another 1l2 that I have changed the flight sim. engine to what I want. But do come back and fly the old game style
