A couple more screenshots from BK's Mistel attack.
As always, my Flickr images are available in 4K resolution on click.
Enroute to combat zone:
Aiming in a shallow dive:
Release!
Free as a bird. Note how the "Patin" autopilot of the Ju-88 Mistel immediately starts to align the flight path properly (see ailerons):
Release moment from behind.
The Mistel aiming is a quite easy procedure, you just point the Mistel at your target and release it.
The Mistel's "Patin" autopilot will engage and follow the direction you've pointed it at, trying to compensate wind, speed drift, turbulences etc:
Yeah I'm free, free falling... (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers)
Seconds to impact:
Impact!
The blast wave starts...
...and extends...
Unarmoured vehicels getting caught by the blast will suffer lethal damage (see exploding cars on the road "behind" the detonation) while armoured ones survive the blast (see tank columns on the road below/left of the detonation):
Maximum blast wave propagation:
The mushroom comes up:
Devastation on the ground, these were two unarmoured car columns:
The smokepile finally reaches more than 1km height:
