Announcement - Dynamic campaign "Pacific 2014" for HSFX.
« on: June 01, 2014, 07:10:32 AM »

Hi to all IL-2 fans!

I wanna present to you announcement of my dynamic campaign. "Pacific 2014" is a result of almost 2 years of work. This campaign compiled all Pacific air war, from 1941 to 1945, not just a single battle or operation. From 2004, when "Pearl Harbor" was released by Maddox Games, i understand, that Pacific is my favourite WWII theater of operation.

When i play this old campaigns, i've seen its primitiveness and many historical errors. With new modpacks we have opportunity to create new campaign, which use many new maps, aircrafts and ground objects, for much more realistic PTO modelling.

In february 2013 i begin work on campaign, and in september 2013 version 1.0 (for Ultrapack 3.0) was released on sukhoi.ru and aviaskins. In 2014 i decide to change campaign from ultrapack to HSFX 7.0, update it with many new operations and briefings for english version.

Campaign was created with close support from Asura, and many features was created by him especially for my campaign. At this moment campaign almost finished, probably at 95% of readiness.

What is main features of "Pacific 2014"

- you can fly and fight on all pacific main battles and operations, from 07.12.1941 till the end of war. There are hundreds of missions.
- main Pacific campaigns, for USA and Japan empire will have Navy and Army parts (subcampaigns), which include fighter, bomber (dive, medium and heavy) and torpedo plane campaigns, both carrier and ground based.
- all campaigns are historical accurately, based on real events, of course when it's possible by HSFX engine and maps limitations.
- full scaled carrier task forces, with battleships, cruisers and 10-20 destroyers.
- many amphibian landing operations. It was really hard, create front line movement on small pacific islands, like Tarawa or Kwajalein, for example.
- campaign use almost all PTO maps and aircrafts, that we have in HSFX.
- campaigns will be released in 2 versions: basic version for clear HSFX 7.02 and modded version, using 3 mod maps and few aircrafts.
- very high aircraft number in missions. In some cases there are 100-120 aircrafts in one mission. Most missions consist 50-70 aircrafts, so you will need a powerful machine to play this campaign.
- campaign is oriented to historical realism, not for so called "easy gameplay" or time economy. In many cases long range flights waiting for the player, and this is PTO feature.

Important info

At this moment i have few bugs in campaign, which can be fixed with Asuras's help only. He dont have much time for it, so we all must waiting for new DGEN versions, which fixe this bugs. Main trouble is when DGEN try to launch all aircrafts from just one airfield. It leads to crash all aircrafts, which are not located on air strip. This problem exists only on missions with many aircrafts (40-50 and more), and partially can be fixed by using AirIntensity=Low parameter in DGEn conf setting. Asura promised me fixed this in future.
Second trouble - i have no enough beta-testers for the big project like "Pacific 2014". This means, many small bugs and errors probably exist somewhere in campaign files.

Future plans

There's few ideas, what can be include in campaign, but i have no time to work on it. For 3.0 version i planned next:
- Fleet Air Arm Pacific campaign
- US NAVY escort carriers campaign
- Burma campaign
- Borneo and probably Palembang campaigns

Release date

Release planned to 01.07.2014. Now i work on fixes of various bugs, hope one month will be enough.

Screenshots
Understand, that words is not enough, and now gentlemen, screenshots))
It really difficult to make screenshots, which show all parts and aspects of my campaign, so i hope you understand, what you see, is only small part of "Pacific 2014".

First, my favourite theme - US carriers early raids (february-may 1942). In campaign represented ALL this raids. On this screeshots we can see first US Navy attack in war - VT-6 Devastators bomb japs base at Kwajalein:

Raid was unexpected, Devastators hit japs fleet hardly, and loses was light. A5M's from Roi cannot stop US Navy bombers.

P.S. As you can see, my english is so poor, i learn it when trying to translate Iron Maiden, Guns n'Roses and of course, Motorhead songs lyrics))

Now, Japanese imperial fleet attack major allies base at Darwin, 19.02.1942. In first days of Pacific war was many easy opportunities for japs pilots, to increase their victories count.

But the war continues, and not to good side for Empire. 05.10.1943 US Navy has made one of the first raids, to japs island base at Wake, where new F6F's was used.

Sibuyan sea - part of WWII biggest naval battle, Philippines 1944. Here Avengers and Helldivers attack admiral Kurita's "Central force" battleships.

Returning to 1942 - march and may battles over Port Moresby. Again, Japan aces will have many easy victories, and 8th FG P-39's trying to attack bombers, before they upload bombs over port.

And last for today - new hero - excellent SB2C Helldiver by barnesy12. This aircraft used in modded version of campaign.
On this screenshots TF-58 Helldiver's attack convoy near Kyushu attack, 18.03.1945.

Motörhead, you are my hero! ;D
I've dreamed about more actuall Pacific Campaigns than those in UP2.01. Now my dream is coming true. 8) Thank you! :)

May I have a little suggestions?
For Battle in Sibuyan Sea you used KGV battleship as a Japanese battleship. Diving Hawk's Yamato is included in HSFX 7.02 so it is easy to implement her in to the campiagn. (Also Iowa is in this mod pack.)
And did you considered using more ship mods for your campaigns?
