Walter, let anyone else answer the question nicely, from my brain:
There are onely two pressure settings in IL-2, one for winter, and one for summer. IIRC.

Yet most seem to have Pressure=745, I found Benghalli with PRESSURE    = 400.



Decline is the latitude setting from what I recall, always took it from the map as it was.

I would keep the settings as made by the author, same for months.
Date influences the sun position, same as decline.

E.g. a map in December looks way different than a map in June, or August etc, similar to daytime lighting changes.

I´d have to read that stuff up again to be sure which is what and what really affects e.g. performance.

During Mig-21 tests I found some maps to let them pass faster through the sound barrier e.g.
Maybe Mike or carsmaster stumbles over this thread.

If someone like to test those initial settings the first set are for 409 while the second are for 410 to 412....you must check in my previous post the correct corrispondance for your maps load.ini

ATM I'm doing the harmonization of WORLDPOS settings for all maps....

....255 maps with 836 load.ini to edit....

....maybe a little longer than planned....

Some ideas to decrease folder (sfs) size.

- Delete all Thumbs.db file .... recommend
Thumbs.db is the thumbnail database file Windows' Explorer makes it automatically in each folders when someone see picture files like JPG/PNG there.
For IL-2 1946 , that is nothing working.
It has the file attribute Hidden and usually we don't mind it exists or not in folders, but folder size is increased certainty.
I saw many Mod Map pack contains it.
(Or I also contained it in my Mod package in my mistake.)
We can delete Thumbs.db easily by command line "del /ah /s Thumbs.db" once from parent folder.

- Delete PSD or XCF files .... if you mind
Some Map Mod contains Photoshop PSD file or GIMP XCF file.
Probably the maker thought someone want to rework needs this format file, easy to access contents with layered picture.
But IL-2 1946 doesn't use any more.
And after packed in sfs , no one may access them in the future.
But someone with willingness will unpack sfs with filelist.txt to rework .... it will be useful.

- Delete JPG and PNG files .... if you mind
same to PSD .... as temporary files they are sometimes contained in Map mods folders.
Il-2 1946 doesn't need them but....

Reproduce 15 year of average mean sea level pressure for June, July, and August (top) and December, January, and February (bottom)

The variation of average pressure is smaller than initially planned....

I'm thinking to reduce the pressure variation to 3 value:

SPRING/AUTUMN 760
SUMMER 770
WINTER 750
