yes, Mick - as i said, the older TFM game i have, which does use Tiger's mod, works properly.
unfortunately, no matter what i try, i cannot duplicate this on any other game install.
I have major difficulties getting Tiger's mod to work properly on any other game, it usually causes a multitude of other problems - some plane have no sound, others don't work at all, a complete mess, basically.
also, i simply can't believe that the only way to have correct open cockpit sounds is with Tiger's mod.
i want to know what breaks this in the first place. so far, no-one has been able to offer any valid advice on this.
i am quite happy to continue this discussion in the sounds section, as i know of a few others with the same problem, but we are all just suffering in silence so far, as there has been no help forthcoming for several months now.
i am not doing any further modding with my 409 games, i am happy with them as is.
i am now purely focusing on 4.12.2 version, and here is where the issues are - 'my_presets' 'my_samples' method simply never works, no matter what i try. not once, not ever.
at the end of the day, i don't mind this even, as long as my sounds all work.
the main killers for me, atm, is the silent open canopy effect, and the super-silent Me-262 sounds, where you hear nothing except a very quiet 'shhh' kind of sound if you zoom the camera right up to the plane.
i'd expect these early jets to be pretty noisy, but they are mere whispers...
anyway, those are my main concerns, and after such a length of time without any advice/fix, i feel that either no-one else has ever had this problem, or they don't even know they have this problem, lol
like i said, i would be happy to start a thread in sounds section to try and sort this issue out for all who are experiencing it, but at this point, due to lack of any feedback, i don't really see the point.
and, as much as i know Tiger's mod is really cool, the thread is a total abortion at the moment, and i don't have a clue what the right things are to do, to get it to work properly.
it just seems to break more than it fixes..
