welcome to my world, lol
to date, i have not managed to get a single sound sample to work through this new 'my_samples' and 'my_presets' method.
not one. which is why, until someone can prove otherwise to me, i don't believe this actually even works. so there. lol

There are soundpacks around, but they also need a PRS file in My_Presets.

thanks Maty, but i'm well aware of the preset files.
please remember, i was using modded sounds when IL-2 was first made moddable, well over 5 years ago. so, i've worked successfully with sound and preset files in the past.
all i am saying, is that none of the techniques that worked in the past, work for this new method.
at least, not in my experience.
i've asked about this in the sounds area, and i assume from the silent response, that no-one else can even tell me if it works.
not one single working sample has been offered for me to test and look at.
yes, many keep saying it works for them, but that's about as far as they go.
no-one has provided me with any info/working examples, nothing...
so, afaic, it's a load of horse bollocks, and simply doesn't work.
another sound issue i have with every single game version i have - 4.10, 4,11, 4,12, the lot - every game install except for TFM (older one, not 412) is that when i open the canopies of any plane, the sound goes super-quiet.
doesn't make any sense, it should be louder. others have mentioned suffering from this same problem. i love flying open canopy, but this kills it for me.
although we're in a small minority, the issue has come a long way, maybe 2 years now, with not one offering of assistance or solution, nothing.
all these factors lead me to have very little faith in the sound-mod side of things.

:D ;D  8) ... I had never heard that one before Eugene ... is it typical from South Africa ...?  :P

I don't know much about post 4.09m versions of the game but I know for sure that UV3 includes the canopy open=louder sounds effect ...

So you should get that effect with 4.10 UV3 and also TFM latest version (I am not sure UV3 is properly working in that version, if somebody could confirm ... Bravo, amigo, are you reading us ...?  ;)

yes, Mick - as i said, the older TFM game i have, which does use Tiger's mod, works properly.
unfortunately, no matter what i try, i cannot duplicate this on any other game install.
I have major difficulties getting Tiger's mod to work properly on any other game, it usually causes a multitude of other problems - some plane have no sound, others don't work at all, a complete mess, basically.
also, i simply can't believe that the only way to have correct open cockpit sounds is with Tiger's mod.
i want to know what breaks this in the first place. so far, no-one has been able to offer any valid advice on this.
i am quite happy to continue this discussion in the sounds section, as i know of a few others with the same problem, but we are all just suffering in silence so far, as there has been no help forthcoming for several months now.
i am not doing any further modding with my 409 games, i am happy with them as is.
i am now purely focusing on 4.12.2 version, and here is where the issues are - 'my_presets' 'my_samples' method simply never works, no matter what i try. not once, not ever.
at the end of the day, i don't mind this even, as long as my sounds all work.
the main killers for me, atm, is the silent open canopy effect, and the super-silent Me-262 sounds, where you hear nothing except a very quiet 'shhh' kind of sound if you zoom the camera right up to the plane.
i'd expect these early jets to be pretty noisy, but they are mere whispers...
anyway, those are my main concerns, and after such a length of time without any advice/fix, i feel that either no-one else has ever had this problem, or they don't even know they have this problem, lol
like i said, i would be happy to start a thread in sounds section to try and sort this issue out for all who are experiencing it, but at this point, due to lack of any feedback, i don't really see the point.
and, as much as i know Tiger's mod is really cool, the thread is a total abortion at the moment, and i don't have a clue what the right things are to do, to get it to work properly.
it just seems to break more than it fixes..

no, no errors in log at all.... :(

and this is almost expected, as i'm not saying there is no sound at all. if there was a missing sound, then there would surely be log errors.
the sounds are there - they are just so quiet, they might as well not be there, lol

actually, no, as i have tried testing the sounds in a 'stock' modded game, which should not have issues, but i guess this would only be necessary for Tiger's mod, and i don't see the need for this when trying to make use of the new 'my_samples, my_presets' feature...

... since it would take only a few seconds to make a class check, why not give it a try ...?  ;)
