In-cockpit smooth fov transition
« on: June 16, 2014, 08:09:59 AM »

Hi all,

A small request that somebody may take into consideration. What about a smooth transition from different fov views just like the gunsight toggle?

I usually have enough with 3DOF and I set 3 joystick buttons to Wide, Normal and Gunsight View as well as the up/down joystick switch to 5 degrees forward/backwards. A smooth transition between each move would be more realistic imho.

Has this been attempted before?

The smooth transition already exists, it's called IL-2 4.12.2  ;)

Mmm... the "RubberBand" effect doesn't apply to FOV changes themselves. Whistler inf act is requesting for something like that effect but for the directly controlled FOV changes.

I can think of a couple of ways to implement something like that, I don't think it would be too difficult, but it requires time.

"the rubberband effect" precisely it is! Just like the smooth transitions in pan/snap views.

It is already somehow implemented in the game, since you get the effect when setting the zoom hotas, and with the 6dof, of course.

Best wishes.

My bad, I thought he was speaking about switching between normal and sight view, which is animated in 4.12.2. I didn't know it wasn't the case for FOV because I don't use it  :D
