Although a small number of He 177 A-3/R5 models were to be built from scratch, with the larger PaK-40-based, autoloading 75 mm Bordkanone BK 7,5 autocannon in the Bola location, structural problems caused by the 75 mm weapon's recoil meant that the Stalingradtyp did not see combat use outside of the original, BK 5-armed improvised handful.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any picture of the BK 5 armament either.

regarding Bison's previous pics, i think it's important to note the slight downward angle of the forward barrel, as opposed to the in-game pic where it is pretty much level straight.
for this type of plane, it would be much better to have the barrel at a slight downwards angle, otherwise you'd be forcing this big beast to almost become a dive-bomber when attacking ground targets, which is probably not a good idea for a plane of this size and weight.
just a thought. ;)

The he-177 was capable of dive bombing, From wiki on the 177  September 1942, the barred-gate type dive brakes on the wing's lower surfaces, placed just forward of each of the outboard ends of the Fowler flap panels, were omitted from all He 177As built after the initial A-0 pre-production batch. A photo of one of the 12 "destroyer" He 177A-1/U2, heavy-cannon-armed test airframes, showed the retracted dive brake panel still fitted on the undersurface of the outer starboard wing.

nice work, Bison :D
@ steven the muppet (lol), thanks for the info.
i still think it would be more effective to have the barrel at a slight down angle, i think this would allow for more effective shooting - of course, what i think counts for nought, what we should go with is what was historically accurate.
if Bison's previous profile pic is accurate, then this slight angle should probably remain :D

I received the 3D files from Steven meanwhile and started investigating how to implement this correctly.
It's possible but will take a few more weeks to be done.
In it's current stage the 3D implementation is a whole aircraft with modified hier.him which statically shows the BK 7.5 cannon.
This needs to be changed to a weapon loadout implementation, meaning that the cannon must be converted to a "pylon" type loadout, then code changes have to be applied in order to correctly reflect further changes (absence of ventral gunner, additional antenna aerial, cannon barrel animation, get rid of shell exhaust etc.).
All of this is doable, but not within a few minutes.
The pictures shown so far might look fine but they're merely this: Pictures. It's just a static 3D mod so far.
