Marshall Islands IJN Skins for Feb 1942
« on: June 29, 2014, 04:29:16 PM »

Hey Guys , I am winding up a SEOW campaign for USS Enterprises Feb 1942 Raids on the Marshall Islands. I wonder if anyone has and or might whip up a couple of skins for this purpose.
For all aircraft an unmarked version would be useful.

Needed

A. A5M4 in early war black engine cowl , and sea grey finish as below

B. Hack skin for German Ar196 as E13A Jake ( I already have a later war green skin for this , but would prefer an earlier historical skin as below

1)
2)

C. Hack skin for a Lublin R-XIIITerHydro as a Kawanishi E7K Alf

1)
2)

As I hope to run this campaign soon ( two weeks - no really, two weeks)
expediency is more important than high art.

I know artists do not work well under time constraints , especially at the rate I am paying , but if I don't make the request , no on e would know there is a need.

Sincerely ,

Kopfdorfer

PS Anyone interested in participating in this (or another)  online campaign , please drop over to SEOWHQ and check out the system. It functions much like Lowengrins engine , but is tailored to connected Co-op missions in an ongoing campaign environment.
SEOW.

Album here: imgur.com/a/EY1DN  (Can't post external links so add the HTTP to that)

Let me know if there's any changes you want made.  Also, I tend not to have to much wear and tear on my skins, apologies in advance.

Thanks a lot Jobbo_Fett,

Now I'll have to figure out how to retrieve this.

Hey Jobbo Fett

It would be awesome if you could add the Tailcode for the Chitose Air Group listed here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_air_groups_of_the_Imperial_Japanese_Navy ;

They used an "S" tailcode marking  during this time period

Thanks for the interest ,

Will look up info on the Chitose Air Group's tailcode and add it to the skin.  As for hosting the image, I can either make it public via Mission4Today, Imgur itself or a place like mediafire or send it directly to you via PM.

Work has also begun on the E13A Jake.  Should have all 3 skins done by wednesday/friday depending on how lazy I am.

Thanks Mikey ,

Your response is much appreciated , but I have reasons regarding ease of use with SEOW for making the request as I did.
I am not interested in adding mods for the purpose of this campaign.
I am a big fan of Gio and his work , but not for this use.

- Resized upper national markings on wings and moved closer to fuselage, move lower national markings as well.
- Added Chitose Air Group's marking, but left out " - " and # as no specifics were mentioned

BONUS!

Since Squadmate mentioned wanting a skin in a more "Sea Foam Green" I did my best to try and emulate that with the colors available (Digital apparently doesn't convert well from Federal Standard).  As such, bonus skin!

Will the E13A Jake have the same Chitosei Air Group markings as the A5M4?  Also, is there anything specific that should be on it?

EDIT

As always, let me know what you want changed.

Okay Jobbo , Great work and much thanks.

Regarding the Ar196 - as the E13 Jake ( and also for the RXIII Ter Hydro as the E7N) , the best information that I can come up with is that one Seaplane Tender that was present in the Marshalls was the Goshu Maru. The Air Group allocated to it was part of the Yokohama Kaigun Kokutai.
According to this thread :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yokohama_Air_Group

The last tailcode allocated prior to Jan 1941 was as you can see a "Y".
Although according to Wiki this was discontinued as of Nov 1941 , it does not offer the next code used. As such I would be inclined to use a large capital "Y" as the tailcode for these two seaplanes.

This final comment is only because you solicited further commentary - what you have done is for me very satisfactory. However if we are detailing , the black of the cowl could be tapered back in a "vee' on the upper surface to the front cockpit root  -  see the taper here ?

That would be gravy.

I hope after this work you will consider coming over to HQ soon and flying with some of your creations!

Yeah I forgot to mention I wasn't finished and was going to finish up the anti-glare on the fuselage.  I will make sure to switch the Air Group codes for you.
