FMJ and Fresco Rotor Wing Warfare
« on: July 29, 2014, 05:55:34 AM »

After retrieving FMJ's Mi-24 from maintenance, the two of us were immediately sortied to strike an enemy position known to be harboring hostile armor.

Into the blue, we go to deliver hurt upon our enemies!

FMJ bringing up the rear,  busily scans communications traffic for whether our approach has been noted, while I navigate from the lead aircraft.

A lonely observation post noted our approach and warning was given to the target personnel, who began attempting to relocate their precious armor.

Unfortunately for them, their warning came much too late, and we caught their tanks in the open.

In a swift first pass, we knock out an AA position that appears to be preparing to engage us, then our attention is turned upon the retreating armor.

FMJ starts the show with a devastating incendiary rocket strike.

With the columns decimated, there is little for me to do but mop up the stragglers left in FMJ's wake.

Due to the sensitive nature of our ongoing war, all reports from this date will be censored before release.

A second day of action over the [CENSORED] border, saw an increase in numbers of helicopters on task, as well as an increased determinedness by the [CENSORED] forces.

A flight of Mi-24 lift off for a target in [CENSORED].

An Mi-24(HotelAlpha) approaches enemy armor near an airfield in the [CENSORED] region. Tracers indicating AAA fire can be seen against the underbrush.

Two gunships(FMJ and Fresco) carrying Sturm V missiles, and armor piercing rockets began the attack by firing upon the enemy armor. Their Sturm V missiles make short work of two tanks right away.

The gunships swing round over [CENSORED] airbase, to bring their guns and rockets to bear again.

Over the base, defenders put up a withering AA barrage.

At this point, one gunship(Fresco) broke off, and began striking the AA positions around the field, to lessen the intensity of fire upon the others.

An attempt was made by the [CENSORED] to scramble fighters, but they were destroyed on the ground.

Meanwhile the remaining attack helicopters(Hotel and FMJ) began to rain a devastating fire upon the enemy armor, which was soon thrown into disarray.

Unfortunately one helicopter was lost due to pilot error. Fellow pilots who witnessed the crash said that he brought the aircraft around very fast for a low pass, and was unable to pull out. He burned into a hill at full power. Both crew members were killed.

The two remaining gunships return to their base in [CENSORED] after exhausting all of their stores.
