This is spectacular. I am curious about the resolution of the deck textures. Will it use multiple hires 2048 x, or is that sort of texture mapping possible?

steaming at 33 knots: deck empty, elevators down

More or less stopped making changes now and just ensuring that everything fits together. The two elevator options are now part of the package and are shown down in the latest image. The new crew is there as well - I've changed from my modified Ranwer's crew to a higher resolution crew which I managed to get working in game now. Ranwer's modified crew will still be offered as an option because I didn't want my effort to be wasted - and there are some who may like a crowded looking deck. Western's point about the pilot elevator has been fixed.

The next couple of weeks will be spent checking minor details, adjusting colour intensities on maps, loading updates and trying it out in game. I can't get it to work in anything other than 4.12.2m because it relies on western's Ship Extension mod.

Karla, thank you very much on your work and dedication to this class....just amazing!! Have you perhaps found a solution to uneven flight deck shading? Is that  adjusting colour intensities on maps?

Work is progressing well. Only minor faults are being found now - such as inverted normals on very small surfaces. Job almost done.

Problems still outstanding are -
Game engine rendering uneven shading (may have to accept this as a minor problem). Some testing to be done.
Arrestor wires slightly out of alignment (minor problem which may not be fixed).
Catapult not working (western helping on this).
Parking locations to be improved (western also helping, but can accept old locations).

My thoughts are with you Karla, I can't wait to see this one coming out.

I used to practice carrier landings a lot with most jets. All in cockpit view. No external lol.

The F-4 is indeed quite hard to land, I suggest you use the airbrakes and put between 90-100% trust. Try to fly at the speed of 300km/h when you're about to toutch the deck.
If you try to land jets in cockpit view I also suggest you use the "sight view for dogfights" (Shift+F1 as default). This will help you to see the deck when you're nose is up. The F-4 has a crowded cockpit, can't see anything most of the time.

Regarding the Skyhawk, this one I can't ever land. I've tried all my best, but I think the plane is just too light. When I hook, the plane flies up in the air, tips over, or gets pulled backward by the wire.
The easiest carrier jet to land in my opinion is the FJ-M Fury.

Anyway, I hope this helps a bit.

Keep up the good work Karla!

Nice video Clint. Do you think shift+f1 view would help you with landings? It helped me with props, I can better concentrate on proper left side approach, shorter one, closer to historic, and line up with the middle of the deck, also gives you the ability to judge the throttle cut better, and altitude also... Given that there is no LSO aid in simulator, its a good tradeoff to get a more historically correct landings... And It eliminated the constant nose up and down motion... Also, what kind of rig do you have?

Yes shift+f1 helps me sometimes with some jets. The F-4 is one of them. It helps me see the deck a little bit more. Makes it easier for aiming.
I use a Saitek X-55 Rhino with track IR.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video!  ;)

Nope, no rudder pedals. The stick does the job. I have a good computer, good enough for IL-2 lol. GC: GeForce GTX 770 and other stuff that I don't know about. Is your computer crappy? Is that why you ask me about mine?

Cheers :)

No, it`s not, except a GC, GTX660, will have to upgrade to be able to have nice waves and record videos without fps loss, that is why I was asking.... Thanks!
