Good news Karla! I was wondering if there is a way to change the positioning of aircraft on the deck to be closer to angled deck positioning in real life? Like this for example:

@deSAD ta.
@BOYAN I will look at 'hooks' relating to aircraft parking after I can get the JBDs to work in game.

Good news: I have managed to get Blendy Blendy exporter working in my Linux setup after on-and-off attempts over the past three months; a slight change of versions numbers seemed to fix it, see  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43893.0.html. I am still trying to get to grips with the co-ordinates in Blender and the ones generated by BBExporter; there is a slight mis-match at the moment. Once sorted, it will improve my efficiency by a significant factor when I can model and export directly using Blender.

(I have used that image once or twice and it also re-assured me that I can use BHR for Phantom operations)

game screenshot of Bon Homme Richard

Good progress has been made because I've transferred all the parts to make one whole model in a single file in Blender and am utilising Blendy Blendy exporter. Details are still being added or existing ones have been improved. A few problems have yet to be overcome: some shadows can't be manipulated properly, arrestor wire hooks aren't working and catapults haven't been tested because I can't park aircraft on the deck. I'll whittle away at these and we should have the ship launched in a couple of weeks.

an AI F-4D after successful trap on Bonny Dick

The decks have been made more solid with wires in place - and so aircraft can land. I'm finding hooks hard to manipulate but continue to work on them; catapults next. Details still being modified.

aerial view of CVA-31 in game

Still working on hooks: I'm using modified CVA-19 hooks for the wires and working out the Cartesian coordinates and such in order to create new parking hooks. For entertainment I made two options where elevators may be set in lower positions. They will be set by configuration before loading game - that's all that can be expected from me for now.

Mirror landing system has not been completed but will be ready for plug-in when western has finished his work.

There are still other jobs to do - and I'm still practicing my landing techniques which, to be honest, are getting worse.

Thanks western. I was thinking of that yesterday (I thought it was a smoke uptake); I'll add it on. I'm looking forward to an improved Hancock.

I'm failing to create parking hooks in Blender (_TOW hooks are OK). I can't understand the principle. I see that there is a LOCATION for the cube at the exact position of the hook. a CENTER for the cube/hook which is at an almost an exact opposite spatial location if you follow a line through a particular PIVOT. The pivot seems to be the center of Hull1 or 3. But my tests do not give the correct values.

I know of just-champi's notes on hooks (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,7442.0.html and https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13710.msg145135.html#msg145135) and, of course, your notes on ship modding (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=20394.0) but there doesn't seem to be much else on creating hooks. Can you help please?

She's coming.

Launch of Bon Homme Richard is near. Modelling, modifying and remodelling has to stop; I'm about to cease fiddling with BHR and release her. Western is helping fix hooks (I hope) and I think we should be seeing Bonny Dick in operation before the month is out. (I haven't counted but there must be over 300 hours work in her).
