Tunnels in Il2 game ?

We all know about WWII trains hiding in tunnels against air raids, don't we ?
But this object which would be very useful for mission makers, is still lacking in our beloved game.
Can anybody  fill this gap, please ?

Oh, Ivan, you asked question that I wanted to ask a long ago... especially because of the Ace Combat game, there was a mission:



I believe it is not hard to create tunnel, just as very-very long hangar object
and even planes will fly through it :D

KevinP tried to make viaduct object in Il2 some time ago (at AAS, I think),
but I have not yet read that it was finished.

yes, this is something that we had thought about years ago already, and realised it is simply not possible to do properly.
as mentioned, the only way might be to make an actual mountain object with a tunnel in it, but honestly, i don't see it working.
at some point we must accept the limitations of this ageing game engine, and just accept that we can't have it all....

Radge, you had quite the same idea as I - I was thinking about it, because I've read a book about Afghan and wanted to do that map, but I realized, that there was a very important Salandge tunnel - or somehow like that. And the Idea was - dig a hole, lay a way through it and fill it with a roof-like object. The only thing is, what will the bombs do with it :\  ...I mean - when they fall through the surface, they won't stop and they'll keep falling down... but that's a minnor thing.

I think that trains go even at moderately, smoothly  rising terrain, where 200 meter long parts of default railways are well placeable without any breaks. So should be a tunnel object, doesn't it ?

More than a while back "Beebop" you can find him at M4T, had a way of running a railroad through a mountain for use with mission building.
