Hello

I checked in CJE's book on armement some indications :

Po633 :
- On May 10th, some were equipped with 2x200 kg

Po631 :
- On May 10th, all navy po631 which fought were equipped with 1 HS + 1 Mg
- 2Hs + 4 Mg seemed to have been standard equipment on May 10th for night fighter units
- 2HS + 4 Mg was rare among day fighter units : most of the time it was 2 HS. It seems that the 4 Mgs were not appreciated due to performances losses

Anyway : nice job !

Hello guys, some folks have been experiencing a few issues with the gunpods remaining attached when the wing comes off, here is my version where I have tried to sort it out, I may have managed, maybe not though:

https://www.mediafire.com/?cbbd7valzs9zzho

Notes:

I can only seem to get the wing to drop off if I put the aircraft in a dive and rip them off, in which case the pods dissapear. ???

The gun flashes remaining when the wing does come off should now be cured, I have been unable to emulate this.

This has the pods as a optional add on to the default, that way you can just use the original armament if the pods do not work as you would hope.

The pods use the external 5 and 6 entries as before.

The gun flashes are now Mgun 4, 5, 6 and 7 in the java and in the meshes.

Both the pods and flashes are attached to WingLIn_D0 and WingRIn_D0, not sure that is the best place but better than the CF_DO where they were originally, mess about if you feel the needto  but do not come crying to me if it behaves worse than my version which may be a terrible mess, I am not very good at this. ;).

The pods are in a seperate Arms folder, the Body file in those has been opened in gmax and it was necessary to rotate them so they face in the right direction.

In each gunpod folder there are two files one each in the colour of either the multi or French aircraft, sorry doing things this way means you have to use one or the other.

If memory serves the inner pod is the pivot, I was experimenting with removing the outer to give a single pod hence using that as the pivot.

I cannot emulate some of the problems others have experienced so there is no guarantee this will cure them.

I cannot guarantee the coordinates used in my version will work in the previous upload that has fixed pods, mess if you like, your problem.

Due to real life issues I may not have the time or inclination to upload any further updates so hopefully this will work, if not someone else will have to do it. :D

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello

I had my first quick mission with a Potez 631 : interception of a Do17Z.

Quite fun, my plane was ehavily damaged but I shot down the Do.

Quite nice

Hope your real life issues are not too bad

another photo

Any info that actually shows the bomb bay is greatly appreciated, thank you very much. 8)

What I need the most is a drawing or photograph that gives enough detail of the external rack that
was used to carry the BE 33 flares, I do not know if that was of French origin or was of local Greek
manufacture. ;)

I am also looking at removing the fuselage recess from the 3d of the Ki-45 and replacing that with
something more appropriate:

I am not entirely sure just where the fuselage mg was on the Potez 633, in the nose or in a single pod underneath the fuselage.

From the images above it would appear it could possibly be in the nose or is that it near the wing root?

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

This cover would make this Franken perfekt.  I  already deted the canon in my game

Cheers

Doc

Hello Doc, sorry to say I have now stopped working on this, real life has kicked in and for the moment I have abandoned any projects that I was working on apart from my Lysander 3d, even that will only get a look in if time permits.

As for the gun reccess, I was having issues with it that I could not resolve.

What you see in the image I posted is actually the Ki-45 fuselage recess where I have removed parts of it and then tried to blend it in with the rest of the 3d.

Unfortunately I was having issues with exporting it.

The problem I had was that to export it from gmax into Il-2 I needed to apply a skin, no problem I would have thought really as all that was done with the original, even if the texture was of a different colour scheme.

Here you see what I found when I started the process of applying the tga:

The area in Red is what was thrown up in gmax as I tried to map the skin which did not seem to belong anywhere. ???

The others below are what I could allocate to the 3d. 8)

Trouble is when I introduced this into the sim the cockpit and various other bits are Black where the glass should be :o :

I have obviously fucked somehing up, where or how I do not know. :-[

I hit a brick wall and at this and just gave up, sorry Doc, I am sure there is a way to deal with it but someone else will have to take on the task.

When I now think about it, the best way forward would possibly have been to make a fuselage plug that fit into the existing recess and
then apply the fuselage skin to that. :-\  We live and learn, unfortunately on this we are where we are.

Sorry jeanba I just retired, any further updates on this aircraft someone else will have to do.

That is just so unfair, life is a bitch. :'(

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hallo Pete !

Yes You are right: real life deserves his time too and is always more important than modding our favourite game !  8)

An I think You are right too when You say that the easyest way would be to make a plug for the gun-bay and map it to the void of the Potez.

I aready made a first atempt :  mirrored the CF_D0 of the Potez. Than I deleted all the parts of the CF_D0 with the exception of the part who covers the gun-bay.  But I did not already map it.

Perhaps I will try to finish this ?!

Good luck in real life

Hello Doc, I just went for making a new item which I created in the CF_D0 to use the existing structure as a template,
the remaining 3d was then removed and just the part I had made was saved. ;)

The new part is no 3d masterpiece but it will do:

It uses a plain texture the colour of the underside, mapping it to the skin was not a option, the UVW map was a rather
strange shape that did not seem to fit anything or look like it should.

The fit is not perfect, however, it does plug the recess:

This is the Potez 631, I have yet to try it on the two other types, hopefully it should fit all of them.

I need to make another texture to match the colour used on the undersides of the French types so at least it should
blend with the existing skins to some degree.

Out of time now, it may be weekend before this goes any further.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
