What's next?
« on: August 18, 2014, 02:55:06 PM »

Some of you might be wondering why I haven't made any new skins in a while. No, I have not stopped, but here are some reasons that prevent me from actually making skins:

1- Lack of ideas: As you may have noticed, I have a thing for B-25s. The problem is that I've already done every B-25 from every movie I can think of, the real life ones having already been done by other skinners. I am looking into it, but I think that's about it for B-25s so far. I plan on moving on to B-24s (Although someone already did the Lady be Good, my first idea) and am almost certain I will do a skin portraying Ol' 927, the only surviving B-24A. For now, you get this picture of my old B-24 in Birds of Steel, that I am skinning into IL-2:

I had to destroy 400 ground targets in multiplayer to unlock that locomotive killmark in Birds of Steel.

2- It's test season and I have to study

3- Classified project

4- Real life Project: I don't think any of you know, but I am quite good at drawing in real life. In fact, for that reason, I've been asked to create a couple of new designs for an upcoming Transformers series on youtube. Yes, I love transformers. In fact, one of which I'm doing is supposed to be a B-24D, so that helps with the idea of moving onto heavies. The other one is a new version of Blackout. I do not care if anyone thinks transformers are silly, and enjoy drawing them. In fact, here is the Blackout I made:

Hi Maty,

If you need ideas for B-24 skins, please consider a skin request I made a while ago:

I'm sure your skills are up to the challenge!  :)

Sure thing. I'm also planning on making a skin portraying the TF I'm supposed to create anyway. Want me do paint the area between the tracks gray to emulate open bomb bays?

I find it odd that every picture ever shows the B-24s to have these bomb bay doors:

I thought it was an early B-24 thing, but considering this is a J I don't understand where the game's bomb bay doors came from. I know the famous "Witchcraft" has them, but that's about it. Maybe someone could fix it? I'll probably make a proper request later.
Any way, there are still a couple of minor bugs that I still have to figure out in the mapping, but I'd say it's not bad for my first actual Liberator:

As you can see, I emulated the open bomb bay doors. I'll probably paint over them later if you want to. Also, anyone know where that grey bit in the cowling in the last picture is mapped?

After this, I'll be doing a B-24 known as the Starduster. Hadn't heard from her, but decided to watch a movie called Beautiful Dreamer that used Diamond Lil/Ol 927, and it was painted as Starduster during the war sequences. Overall a pretty reasonable movie, although a few shots are clearly filmed in a B-25. In the end, it had a dedication to the original Starduster and her crew, So I'll be doing that plane.

Does anyone have any info on that bird? Name is Starduster, it's a B-24D, serial number 42-40679.

So to recap, I will be doing:
Ol 927 (Skin for B-24D)
Diamond Lil (Skin for B-24D, not very happy with Harpia's version)
The Frightful Old Pig (Skin for B-24J, almost done)
Starduster (Skin for B-24D)
