RELEASE - Dock stuff
« on: August 24, 2014, 04:50:30 PM »

Here are some dockside items including some US Navy personnel.  My apologies for not providing the tugboat but I've had some issues with normals and have to correct it (same goes for my Quad Tractor).

Bollards (with and without line around them).  Not shown are very small tie-up "cleats".  They don't show in the object viewer in FMB but you can place them.
Two whalers one with a crewman, one without.  Navy personnel and a dockside ladder.

I was getting a little tired of seeing empty cranes so here's a cargo net.  It gave me some practice with alpha channels for the see-through effect.  Not perfect but not bad for a first attempt.

NOTE;  The various dock items will have to be adjusted height-wise in your static.ini file (the AddHeightLive line).  Not all docks are the same height.
Place the lines in the static_ini_stuff.txt file at the end of your static.ini file (backup your original to be safe).
Place the various object folders into the folder where you keep your mods (for example mine would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Il2 DBW\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#DBW\Docks\3do\Bollard)

BTW - the boats are static (I can't find a tutorial on making things move)

Get the items here:

It's the detail like these objects (and eye candy) that count  :D ;)

tomoose:

Would there be some way you could either extend the cable on the Cargonet1 another 2.5 metres? Right now it goes into the boom on the small crane.

Either that or give us a piece of cable a few metres long that we could raise or lower to extend the cable on the Cargonet1. This would also allow us to have more variety for these great little details on a couple of cranes offloading a vessel.

Here's the current text to lower the Cargonet1 to the smaller crane with the cable at the top of the boom:

[buildings.House$Cargonet2]
Title           Cargonet1
MeshLive        3do/GroundDetails/Cargonet1/Live.sim
MeshDead        3do/Cargonet1/dead.sim
AddHeightLive   14.40
AlignToLand     1
Body            FuelSmall
Panzer          0.005

Thank you so much for the new objects. I like static-objects very much!
They make our IL2+mods world look much better and our maps look superb.
 You did a really excellent artsy job on them!
Thank You Tomoose!

We were needing very much some sailors and harbor items and these will fit in perfectly into our game.
I will try my best to paint in some more details into them and create different uniforms for those sailors. That way we can also
have some German and Russian Navy Sailors for the harbors. These 2 human objects are perfect for such variety dressed in
many different Navy uniforms.

I have placed your new objects into the IL2+Mods game "Port" folder.
There is a folder already created called "Port" for such nice objects.

This is what I have written in my static.ini, if you are interested to use in your game...

Max;
thanks for the text.  I do need to reorg my objects as I've dumped them all in the same folder at my end.

Bob;
I'm not sure what you mean with the cable.  Are you saying that the cable is too long for the smaller crane?  i.e. in order to 'hang' it on a small crane the cable has to extend up through the boom like an antenna?  If that's the case then I'll remove the cable from the net and keep the net as its own object and create some cables of different lengths.  Is that what you are after?

cheers,
T   :)

tomoose:

Here's a screenshot to show how the netting needs to be lowered to no longer foul the crane boom.:

As you can see the cable is in a good position at the top of the boom. However, the boom is well into the cargo at the 5m mark. The ruler shows that, to clear the boom, that part of the netting needs to be about 2.5m lower.

I like your idea of having the cargo as a separate object and giving us different lengths of cable to customize how to hang the cargo. With the cargo as a separate object we could place them on the dock or, I suppose, just about anywhere.

Also, if anyone knows why there is a colour shift in this screenshot please let me know. I tried using both .jpg and .tga chosen in the game; the .tga came out just fine but the .jpgs all came out like this. I'm using V4.12.2 with SAS ModAct 5.3. It sure doesn't look like this in the game!!

Bob;
Okay, now I'm tracking.  Where did you get that ruler device, I've been looking for that.  At the moment I'm guessing at height adjustments and going in and out of the game to check.  Time consuming at best.  I'll work on the different cable lengths this weekend as I'm kinda busy this week.

Ref the colour....no idea.  I was wondering why the cargo was blue, LOL.  :-\

Found it!! Here's the link to the original thread for the rulers:

http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=27000&hilit=ruler

It seems the one at 4shared is the only one working right now. However, I can't get past a screen trying to make me install something called "Citrio." Good luck.

There are two folders; one is marked, "Ruler_KDP" and the other is marked, "RulerVertical_KDP." I simply changed the "AddHeightLive" to the vertical ruler to make more; I now have up to 30m vertical measurement and more can easily be added.
