Every engine having a different value is perfect, I want something that we can put in on an per engine basis.

So if you fly an early version of the f16, you have to be aware of the engine limitation, but if you fly a later version you don't

So to speak yes, The F-16A/B model had PW-100 engines in them. While the F-16C/D block 25 had improved PW-100 enigines
While the F1-6C/D block 32 converted over to the GE F110 engine and redesigned larger inlet.

A few quick specs

PW F100
Compressor: Dual Spool Axial compressor with 3 fan and 10 compressor stages
Bypass ratio: 0.36:1
Combustors: annular
Turbine: 2 low-pressure and 2 high-pressure stages
Performance
Maximum thrust: 79 kilonewtons (17,800 lbf) military thrust, 129.7 kilonewtons (29,160 lbf) with afterburner
Overall pressure ratio: 32:1
Turbine inlet temperature: 1,350 °C (2,460 °F)[6]
Specific fuel consumption: Military thrust: 77.5 kg/(kN·h) (0.76 lb/(lbf·h)) Full afterburner: 197.8 kg/(kN·h) (1.94 lb/(lbf·h))
Thrust-to-weight ratio: 7.8:1

GE F110
Compressor: 2 spool: 3 fan and 9 high pressure compressor stages
Combustors: annular
Turbine: 2 low-pressure and 1 high-pressure stages
Performance
Maximum thrust: F110-GE-129: 29,500 pounds; F110-GE-132: 32,000 pounds
Overall pressure ratio: 29.9:1 - 30.4:1
Turbine inlet temperature: 2750F (1510C)[4]
Thrust-to-weight ratio: F110-GE-129: 7.29; F110-GE-132: 7.90

This is the general format I am using at the moment, I want to expand it and this particular engine does not have afterburners (augmented == 0 ) , but you get the idea

Okay I have jet engines workiing, mostly.

Had a bad time getting the engine to start, then I realised I was doing the strup procedure wrong >:(

Cut off to true.
Set trim mode.
Set starter.

Wait for N1 and N2 to stabalise.

Throttles to idle

Cut off to false

Start engines.

Takes about 15 seconds.

Is that too realistic?

Pretty close. You've narrowed it down to the most basic level.

N1 and N2 are the fan speeds used to determine the engine power/speed.
GE CFM-56 engines are based off off N! speed to determine over all engine status/power/speed.

While Pratt and Whitney JT-9s use EPR (engine pressure Ratio) to determine that.

You also have to worry about EGT (exhaust gas temperature) in addition to EPR and N1 and N2 speeds

A typical start for a 747 engine is

Fuel on/ Igniters on/ Throttle at idle
Starter engaged (air starter fed by ground or bleed air from the Auxiliary power unit)
Watch for N1 rotation
At about 40% N1 look for EGT rise
When at 70% N1, disengage starter Engine should continue to spool up. Check for starter shutdown (it will come apart if it did not disengage as the engine reaches running speed)
Watch for EGT drop when engine reaches 100% N1 and stabilizes after which disengage ignitors.

That is a basic version.

Over the weekend I started an experiment.

I have created a small island and added a runway in Unity.

I have added code to my modtool to export aircraft in a format that unity cna handle, and am in the process of converting the HIM file to something Unity can handle.

Once this is in I will publish it as a web plugin.

When I do I will need you guys to test it and give me feedback.

Mainly I need to know.

  • Can your rig run it?
  • What frame rate are you getting
  • Any rendering artifacts?

If this works we can add a 3D view for every aircraft on the site, I don't know how easy it would be to embed the Unity file into a post on this board though?

Anybody got a clue?

Stainless could you create a mail list so everyone interested can get a update warning on the mail?

If you tell me how to  :P

My circuits are otherwise occupied.

Hey Stainless,  Is this Unity engine the same one they use for the Kerbel Space Program?

Cuz i have that fun little game and I think it could work extremely well!

Same engine

I'm using the free version so others can grab it as well.
