The Nomonhan Incident
« on: September 26, 2014, 03:29:07 AM »

Ki-27-Ko from 11th Sentai

This campaign features air clash of Japanese IAAF versus Soviet VVS, during summer 1939, along the disputed border with Manchuria: the river Khalkhin Gol.

Player belongs to 24th Sentai and will fight in the very same days in which historically this unit saw action in that theater of war. It is based at Hailar, as in reality. Weather has been set according to local averages, as well as sunrise and sunset.

Campaign requires to be played version 4.09 of the game, as well as UP2.01 and some extra planes whose links you'll find inside the included Readme.

Squadrons and aircraft have been set according to OOB when the "Incident" began; your Ki-27 "Nate" adversaries will be I-16 (type 5, 10 and 17) and I-15bis (aka I-152). SB-2 and TB-3 will be also tough targets to shot down with your little 7.7 mm machine guns! ;D

SB-2

Personally, I had much fun playing it; I feared to struggle trying to shot down "concrete" Russian plane (as it has happened to me in the past with another modpack) with my "peashooters", indeed, these latter, although seldom destroyed, often set ablaze enemy plane, scoring the victory! Russian often overwhelm in number Japanese, but their skill level is very poor.

Only twice Japanese "Heavy bombers" Ki-21-I "Sally" attacked enemy assets, and was every time the airfield of Tamsag; they were afraid to cause an escalation of the conflict in a total war between the two nations. This frequency is replicated during this campaign.

Ki-21-I from 61st Sentai

All this has been made possible thanks to the key help by Marjak; the campaign files, indeed, were laying abandoned from one year on my HD, after I had given up, overlooking a series of stupid errors, that he corrected.

Hope you have fun!

Uploaded new version 1.1!

Introducing Ki-10 and Ki-30. Campaign has been also divided into three parts to improve historical accuracy, as well as I-153 and 64th Sentai have been added at the proper time. In addition, front movements have been kept as close as possible to the real ones.
