What about compact the downloads with one for each game version and update the first post?

:)     :)
Dear Allia, you can extend the landing gear only if you use the manual mode ..
as you do for the F4F-3 or the I-15 and I-16 ... ;)

I saw the post about using the airbrake.

The real thing required you to use the crank to raise the landing gear. I had heard that some pilots pushed the nose over to make it easier to raise them. Here's Kermit Weeks flying his Grumman Duck one nice sunny day where you can see him cranking the handle pretty well on takeoff. He even stops a couple of times to work on other things before he finishes raising the gear.

I've really enjoyed this beautiful true amphibian in Il-2.

Thank you to those that made it.

I have a dumb question.  I love this mod.  Downloaded, scoured this forum to make sure I had all relevant info and...

...it's awesome.  One minor hangup, and wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I found Starfighter311's generic skins pack for the J2f.  Here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,69119.msg752990.html#msg752990

I created a new skins folder for this mod, called:

J2F-DuckS

Plane still works just fine, but I can't use the skins.  They don't come up in either QMB or FMB.

Anyone else had this issue?  Someone posted in the thread for these skins that they work great with Gio's original J2F.

Also, when downloading the skins from the above page, they come in a folder called "J2F-DuckS" so I figured the folder name is NOT the problem.

So, do this plane and skinpack just not work together?  Lemme know, if you please.

... did you try deleting the final S in the skin folder name ...?

Yep.  And there was no change. I tried with both folder names.

On another note, when I added the lines to air.ini, 70% CTD (or maybe it was 60%.  One tends to forget).  I then saw earlier in this thread that you have to only use the second line.

This one:

J2F-DuckS          air.J2F_Duck_Super 1          NOINFO  usa01 DESERT

Removing the first line, this one...

J2F-Duck          air.J2F_Duck 1                NOINFO  usa01 DESERT

...solved the CTD problem, and was able to get in and fly the J2F.  Still can't quite figure out that disconnect between place and skin.

... well, normally the skin folder name must be exactly the same as the first one of the air.ini line ...

So in this case :

J2F-DuckS          air.J2F_Duck_Super 1          NOINFO  usa01 DESERT

Starfighter has the folder correctly designated in his zip file. If you unzip the file and copy Paintschemes to your game root folder the skins will be in the right location. They appear and work in BAT.

However, the skins are hi-res. Do you have hi-res DLLs installed? If not, the skins will not appear.

The skins from this link are in x1024 /3 MB resolution. In my B.A.T they show up without problems: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,67824.60.html

... yep, but stock format is 1 Mb, that's probably why these skins don't show in his game, they need to be downsized to 8bit (256 colours) instead of 24 bits ...  ;)

Here is the link for those who need them in stock 8 bit format ...  ;)
