Coastal Command Campaign
« on: October 12, 2014, 03:42:25 PM »

Hello everybody !  :)

Here is a set of mini-campaign based on the history of Coastal Command 19 Group, in charge of U-Boats hunting in the Bay of Biscay.

You will fly the Beaufighter, the Beaufort, the Catalina, The Flying Forteress, the Hudson, the Liberator, the Mosquito, the Sunderland, the Wellington and the Withley on long and dangerous search for the enemy.

This is a static semi-historical campaign of 5 to 6 missions set between 1941 and 1944 and designed for 4,12 with SAS Modact 5.3 only. These missions are demanding : Long flights, difficult weather, realistic navigation, accurate flak and nasty encounters are the day-to-day routine. I tried to balance the fun of play with the historical difficulties crews have met.

Here is the direct link :

https://www.mediafire.com/download/f5v000gkokwv3cs/Coastal+Command+19+group.rar

It is also available at Mission4today : http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2050

Installation :

Unzip the folder « Coastal Command 19 Group », and put the content in your main root !

For playing these campaigns, be sure you have the following mods :

Planes

JU88C6 Daywalker   https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2175.0.html
Liberator GR V      https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14679.0.html

Environmental mods

Realistic Lights v1.5              - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3718.0.html
Realistic Airfield Lighting v1.51 - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23695.0.html

Maps

or (recommended)
#TFM 412-01 mapmod https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40015.0.html

After all this work, do not forget to set your options correctly :

No Icons is set to ON (red light is lit, switch thrown to the left side)
No Padlock is ON
Realistic Navigation is ON
No Map Icons is ON
No Player Map Icon is ON
Reliabilty is ON

No Gee or Navaid. Your navigator is a crack one. For all aircraft you will have the help of the radar...even if some plane never got one ! Let's say that your crew has got a very efficient vision.

I do hope that you will enjoy these campaigns. As it has been a very long work, I am open to constructive remarks only !  :P

All good !  :D

What I like best with this navigator feature is "NavError"...Especially after a long night bombing mission !

Cheers, Poussin !

An excellent if demanding campaign - and frustrating having flown for ages to get to the Bay of Biscay and then lose an engine on my first pass over a destroyer,  >:( but I guess that's war!  I really like the variety of planes and weapons available so you can experience the contrasts. I've had problems loading a couple of the planes - buts that's just a question of going through my planes and checking to make sure I've got the specific types/variants.   One question though. I can't get the airfield lighting to work. I've inserted the folder into #SAS and inserted the lines in the 2 .ini folders but nothing. How do you activate/ select the lights you want? Taking off with just the help of moonlight is proving to be mighty risky

OK - how stupid am I?  Just ask for runway lights from Ground Control - Doh :-[
But....how do I select from the different types available?

Hello MJJWalsh !  :)

Thanks for your comments !

For the runway lights, I've just made one runway with them...You could settle a key in "command" to show the way to taxi or let the autopilot do the job and take the stick back for take-off...Normally, the moonlight is just enough to avoid the crash !   :D

Wishing you an happy landing !

Hello,
first of all, many thanks for the campaign.
I have a problem with the PBY (last edition)  the bomsight is missing.
It comes maybe from the Pe-2 bombsight used in this edition?
The campaign works with the Pby Nomad from SAS including bombsight.
Any help available?
Regards.

Nice.  Thanks.  I was just thinking about a Coastal Command Campaign, with the Tsetse Mosquito as I'm currently building/painting an old 1/72 Airfix model kit of it.

Silly question, if I've got TFM 412 do I need to download the extra bits listed in the 1st post besides the campaign files?

I'm currently updating my TFM 412 install as I've noted more has been released since I last downloaded and dl'ing the packs is taking a while...

Hello guys ! Thanks for your comments ! ;D Here are your answers :

Tartenmuche : I have choosen the PBY for this campaign mainly for the loads it can handle, make it more accurate historically...and because I am no use with a bombsight !  :P I rather handle the PBY like a fighter - bomber...If you prefer to use the Nomad, go for it, all you have to do is change the main plane in FMB and save your mission !

Raven : Thanks for the comments !!! I hope you will like the mosquito campaign as there are two Tse-Tse mission in it ! Regarding TFM412, I'm not sure that all the mods needed for this campaign are included...Best to do is to check it directly with 412TFM details. My PC is on the low side, so I tried to keep it light with mods.

I hope this brings answers to your questions and wish you a good U-boat hunting campaign !

Cheers, poussin

OK thanks.

I dropped just the campaign files in via JSGME and tried the Mosquito campaign and the first mission loaded to the point where I was on the runway so it seems to work just fine with TFM 412 without the additional mods.  I'll keep an eye out for things not working though and download the extra mods if I need them.

Downloaded and tried these for TFM 412 and will work with only minor changes.

Haven't had time to give it really good go but I like the work you have done...Great Job!

For TFM 412 guys just remove the '_fr' from the properties files so you can read the briefings.

The only plane that gave me grief was the Beaufighter which is giving me a Load Null failure...no solution yet.
Excellent work Poussin1!

@ Hamm66 - Thanks for the info on TFM-412, would be happy to look at a full conversion for TFM-412 (and fix the Beaus) if I have permission from Poussin1 to take it apart in FMB.  Looks good... ;D ;D ;D
