Me262 wreckage dug up near Arnhem
« on: October 27, 2014, 09:02:21 PM »

#t=94

According the the Me262 production log W.Nr.130026 of 3./KG 51  '9K+AL' was shot down by (probably German) Flak and the pilot Uffz. Schauder was killed.

It was pushed into a bomb crater and filled in, lost untill now.

additional reports claimed it as 'Black F'

Didn't you skin 9K+AL at one stage? as well as Black F Phas3e?

Mind you, I am impressed with this find, not many Me-262's are looked for, most wrecks found that I see are Pacific aircraft and Battle of Britain types. You do however get the odd Eastern front aircraft found, usually in one piece like the Fw-190A-5 that was found in a forest 5 years ago.

it hurts a bit to see them use heavy metal to pull the remains out.
but then again this thing will never fly again, so...
but i could not help but think "careful! mind the metal sheets!!! watch out! not with the big shovel!"

You can find 9K+AL skinned in my latest Me262 Skinpack.
Due to things I peeked up in this Vid you can trace an early version updated in my Packs too.

EKdo 262 became ErprKdo/EKdo Lechfeld
EKdo 262 wore Stammkennzeichen + Red tactical Numerals (Red 1 - 21)
ErprKdo/EKdo Lechfeld wore Black tactical Lettering (known Black  A - L)

But it was never one of those claimed surplus black F's. There was only one, that matches,
the well known and photographed 130179, Black F from ErprKdo/EKdo Lechfeld.
Black F was on Strength until disbandment in Oct 1944.
From the others only hearing/saying and not matching Serials (late Production/Logbook Errors).
This detachment was a permanent institution at Lechfeld, providing Training/Conversion facilities. This unit existed until
October 1944 and airframes coded this way never left Lechfeld for combat operations.
After the disbanding, aircrafts of this unit remained within the E-Stellen, Versuchsanstalten.
One plane later was found by Russians in Rechlin (former Black D).

Imagine VI+AZ and red 21 now KG51 took over and at least must have
added some camo to it. We know of 9K+OL (170040), found by british totally crashed,
the engine was taken to UK and 9K+KL (170122) having worn at least grey+greens.
KL was found by US Troops in better condition. These two crashed later.
But as these Guys rip and shred, we'll never know.

Here we see Werkenummer 130026, VI+AZ S21 from the EKdo 262.
From the initial pre-series that started with V6 130001 until 130027 SQ+WA.
The Plane was listed at Lechfeld on 10.August, after this date it moved with the unit to Rheine/Hopsten.
9K+AL didn't took part in the France Adventure of 3./KG 51.
Schauders 130026 never wore Black codes, earlier it had a Stammkennzeichen applied and Red 21 (S21).
We know KG 51 crates not commissioned by EKdo Lechfeld wore either Stammkennzeichen or the KG51 unit code system.
You can trace a patch of RLM 02 primer on the recovered wing covering a Letter from the Stammkennzeichen
all sources claim this to be an A-2a, now here's evidence
no A-2a Bomber variant, it was indeed A-1a.

But despite this the digging is just a bit poor, it hurts my eyes, they shredd across vital parts with their shovels,
scratching off the last evidence for a lousy hydraulic pump. Such pumps where stored at Rheines dump to hundreds,
but this Wing and paint allocated is more costworthy.

Check up the Ghostbombers documents, these are being posted/quoted on 12'OClockHigh Forum, but author not
linked up the mainpage, for whatever reason. By surprise I found them very handy and it came just right to correct some
of my Skins. Have phunn.

Best wishes

This plane crashed near Elden, and was due to its secret nature, brought to Deelen airbase by the Germans and buried there.
