What the fantastic pilots flying COD says about those flying BOS. And the bitchy way they judge BOS, I have grown sick of it. dislike in silence as in other game genres , just leave it

COD... yeah, they pulled their agenda at BOS forum wherever possible and now again at SimHQ.  In a BOS topic, can you imagine.
They behave like religious fundamentalists: this it the path to follow to enlightment, we know what is good for you all, we show you how bad the rest is. Here is the evidence, they are evil.
I admit COD/Clod/Clodo improved a lot with all the stuff TF did but their self-righteous attitude gives me a bitter taste to even give it a try.
As soon as I see somewhere a comment popping up by someone whose nickname starts with 'ATAG-' I know what kind of yada yada to expect.

What is so difficult in enjoying a couple of flightsims? They all have their pros and cons.
If you don't like one, well... post a few well argumented comments on relevant websites and carry on.
It seems not enough to some it seems and those grown-ups (probably with children already and grandchildren perhaps) behave like spoilt toddlers who keep on crying untill they finally get their popsicle.
Hilarious and sad at the same time.

Sorry for getting off topic Typhoon Ib by talking about Clodo in a BOS topic.  :-[
At SAS1946.
Which itself is a modsite about good old IL2:1946.  :D

Uufflakke, the topic on the SimHQ site is not quite as you describe and the "religious fundamentalists" comment could as well be applied to the BOS adherents.

There is as much defense of IL2 1946 as there is of COD against the railings of the BOS guys.

The good thing, so far, is that the debate has not gained a foothold here.

SAS is the premier site for keeping IL2 alive and current and the soap opera surrounding those other sim/games seems out of place here.

IL2 is and will remain the Queen of the WWII, WWI and Spanish Civil War Combat Flightsim world and pretty pretenders will come and go but not replace.

have no experience in 1916.
But this spad just "cost" me an hour... that i did not regret.

what menues! Pilot "Rooster"! Pilot Background Stories! Campaign! timespan squadrons and history! Immersion galore!
Why not the same stuff again...?!! this could be IT.
will have to fly this some more.
But the Bombs are Puny. maybe i'll get myself a ground pounder. Airco got some good stats. or the Bristol. Am a Dumptruck driver by heart so...
But DAMN are the RE8's we escorted ugly. Puking material.

Been shot down by... the 1917 version of the 109F. It had a rounded spinner, so *looks up wikipedia* it musta been an albatross of some sort?
Beautiful, streamlined, evil baaarfbag.

How do you recon your squad leader?
He has his girlfriend's panties tied together and is flying them off his wing.

I also fly this SPAD now. I finally got RoF tweaked to where it will run on my machine with reasonable FPS and still look good. I agree with you though, BoS could take a lot more things from this game apart from just the engine. In three days they are doing a large update. Ilya Muromets is getting merged with RoF so you will be able to fly it. They are adding a Russian-made Nieuport (or Sopwith?) to the list of free planes as well as some eastern front maps with different seasons.

I have been eyeballing the Bristol for a while trying to keep coming up with excuses not to buy it. It is a very versatile plane. Carries a decent (for WWI) bomb load and still flies well enough to be used as a fighter. Has customiseable machine gun armaments for pilot and gunner. You get two planes for the price of one as you get the Falcon II and Falcon III engine variants with different exhausts and propellers as well.

I really don't understand why they did not take all the good things from RoS toward BoS

Nice to see Typhoon "enjoying" flying some of the older a/c.... :)
I see that you've been introduced to Harry Tate  :D.... why not take the old lad for a circuit of the airfield.
Turn off all automatic engine management.
Load up with a couple of 112 pounders and off you go.................... ???

When you've got the splinters out have a go at scrambling a Bebe  :D

I love flying both RoF & DBW1916
When I first flew RoF I as was staggered at the beautiful a/c & cockpit detailing and the frighteningly accurate flight characteristics.
Paying for field mods & maps etc was a bit of a shock ( but not hugely expensive), however I usually fly Rof for about an hour before I get an "itchy modding finger"  :D and want to fine tune some it's less good aspects  ;)

So, if Santa's listening.......DBW 1916 with RoF's cockpit & a/c detailing + lighting please  :)

Cheers

Alfie

P.S   Yes, I agree possumkiller, Xmas with Big Ilya and the Duks will be lovely  :D
P.P.S   Oh and good luck with BoS etc

So right after posting last night I went and bought this baby :)
If you aren't a fan of how every tiny stick movement translates to your SPAD jumping all over the place, you will like how solid this one flies.

Also, I bought this one but now I also have Fokker D.VII that I didn't have before??

Puny Bombs for Puny, Fragile aircraft.
twenty pounds... 18 Kilos. waste of explosives... no power at all...?

nope!

the available upgrade from 7.69 to 11.58mm cuts ammo in half, the accuracy is awful.
i did however find a few gunjams (nice!) and big architecture (very nice!)

This is  just a short "trip" back in time, to take a look what 777 did back in the day, to find out what they have been capable of before BoS came along.
And to get to grips with the FMB - Not the intuitive kind of software.
RoF is confusing to say the least, but it gives an insight on why certain things in BoS are the way they are.
real pilot stats, the career mission generation from the online server... there are some "aha! oookay!" Moments.

In the shop i can buy the spad 13C1 for 6.25$ - but that's the one that came with the game?!
thats are the same...220hp...
There are some funny ideas tho "Pimp my pilot" by wearing a red scarf...

I doubt i will spend any money on it though- the basic "dislikes" still remain: slow flying, fragile shoeboxes whose max speed is barely double the stall speed.
They are all sorts of ugly ducklings. The Spad's are, lucky for me, of the more pleasing Types, visually.

I love the two engined bombers, the observer planes and as usual I consider fighters as a total waist of time.

I am playing a Spad7 pwcg campaign and it is very nice.
But in carreer beta, 2 seaters are much more interesting : Breguet 14 or Sopwith Strutter for instance.
And the recon and artillery spotting missions are very original

I always thought the voice acting for Rickenbacker was cheesey as hell but after seeing this, I think he is pretty close lol.
