I will never give up IL-2, I am on a vacation from it. In fact I am on vacation from all sim´s . I hang around here since I got many friends here, and cleaning Share a Screen section
I fly a mission every third day in BOS, and maybe a campaign once a month in COD. Public flying in COD bores the crap out of me atm.
In the long run I see only future in good old IL-2 . Yes I am convinced we need to improve this game further, because we aint gonna see this quality in WW2 combats ever again

Death of IL2:1946 was announced during development of COD. Well, we all now the story.
Death of IL2:1946 was announced again during development of BOS, Well, when reading the BOS forums you see disappointed people reinstalling IL2:1946 again.
The other way round. Who would ever expect that to happen?

On a daily base SAS1946 attracts more visitors than official BOS site. Also a bad indication for them I would say.
I really wonder how BOS can overcome the bad reputation it has right now in combat flightsim world.

The positive thing about BOS forum is it keeps me updated about DCS:WWII. And I don't mean it sarcastically at all.

As long as there are theater which can only be simulated with Il2, I will never uninstall it.

Yesterday I bought the BOS as Retail, as a Designer I know all I have is hope, like all of us, let us have, even if it is
a complete shot in the oven, again.

You are welcome Knoch, I never regretted buying BOS nor COD. It is fun every time I fly it. I do not think you will either, as long as you use it for what it is. The problem is these hateful simmers against it put a personal perspective into it.
I knew after the release of COD , that a huge offline based game like IL2 would never enter the shops again, it might be why I never was too disappointed.
I put COD and BOS in the same rating. BOS for its great game physics and COD for its amazing complexity in  damage model and flight model
I am more skeptical about the couple of hundreds $ I put in DCS. I start to think it never will be a complete WW2 combat sim

Unfortunately, I think you're right.  And IL-2 1946 is still very very good and I look forward to further development.  BoS came out of the gates and fell on its face just like CloD originally did and its hard to recover from that.  I can't believe 1C has done it twice in a row now.

We should be thankful that Il-2 1946 is as good as it is and so adaptable. Perhaps there are hidden depths yet untouched?

The game physics and 3D is as one should expect better in BOS , Light and shadows and with it the FM is in many ways better. But by experience from other planes you can have a very believable FM in IL 2 swell. The stalls in IL 2 is as good as in BOS. You might consider learning to do FM in IL 2 and improve it your self

On the other hand what that Friedrich does in BoS when i push the stick forward is WTF.

On the bad news side... The french have Buggered the Devteam to get a copy of the server by pressuring the team via skype and proving their prowess with the RoF FMB.
as good news as that seems to be...
leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. That Piece has been operated for more than half a year now, and is so close to release... impatience.

well, if it all comes crashing down, i will be quite content to spend the rest of my days flying IL-2.
i mean, heck, i still remember the day when i was bowled over by this piece of cutting edge tech:


 
so, although all the new eye candy and stuff is all fine and well, if it's going to be a miserable experience of paying for each and every new piece of kit for the rest of our lives, i can do without it and be quite content with IL-2.
once again, a big shout out to Oleg, who changed my life with his original creation

Yea, but hell, i dunno how he made that, moneywise.

Way i learned life is - you want a piece of kit, you pay for it or steal it.
Or like The modders did... find some frikkin back door and redecorate the entire store to your liking.

That combo... that combo is almost unbeatable.
