well, i dont see anyone else trying to cater to our sim crowd, so we might all just have to swallow some of the bitterness, and try to support them - remember, support does not necessarily mean money, there are other ways one can try and help.
gentle use of a cattle prod, perhaps :D

my ping from pst is not conducive to joining anything in Europe. Even if it was I wouldn't join
Your complaining tends to end in itself.
I've been playing U.S. servers online back in the days we had them populated, with a ping of 200~300ms.
You have to be careful with your six when you have a ping like that, on the other hand it holds surprises for others as well, since mind you, when you hit a plane from your perspective, then you hit it, regardless whether in the meantime (ping) the player breaks away.

held to much the same standard as the damned ivan that paid all of a tenth of what I paid
It's a normal economic decision to charge different prices in different areas of the world.
It's a mixed thing among taxes, demand, wage levels, sometimes distribution costs etc.
I like to compare that to the price difference between petrol and diesel in germany.
There's a difference because of taxes, caused by political decisions in order not to hinder the economy of transport companies.
But there's also a huge difference in the net cost and at first glance that's silly.
In europe we do produce much more petrol than we consume. It's because when you produce diesel, there's always a certain share of petrol coming out of production too.
But when europe's refineries produce the required diesel, the "side product" petrol is too much for the european market.
Still net prices for petrol are higher than those of diesel, so where the heck is the balance between supply and demand?
It's there, but it's overseas. In the U.S. the situation is opposite, you need more petrol than the "side product" share from your refineries gives you, so you're importing petrol from europe.
Since this adds transport costs to the petrol, and since the U.S. petrol price level doesn't allow european refineries to charge the U.S. consumers for the transport costs for that reason, they simply charge the european customers for it.
Bottom line is that petrol for me is so expensive not at least because you U.S. citizen need it, but won't pay the required price for it.

if you didn't notice Flatspinman gave up on the game tonight

Oh and if you didn't notice Flatspinman gave up on the game tonight and walked away. Add him to the exodus. Great job in enabling the devs to run out the best of our community.

That sounds like a shame, where did you hear that news? you seem to state it as a fact

that piece of crap i think.
saw somthing along the lines of "GL HF" aka Good Luck, have Fun (i am outtahere, sayonara... )

But i doubt this concerns the game.
as long as he is active and a moderator on the official forums, i would say this is speculation and should be ignored.

one user... a known one but one. who is a bit peeved off about the community.
CVMW i would appreciate if you stopped putting forth such personal matters bad news for the game... they have as much value as mike's Sack of Rice.
Good image.

So what, if FlatSpinMan quit playing the game. What will happened?
Shall I stop? Because some people hate the game so much that they want it gone?

This is the kind of bullshit I hate with sim community, it is a narcissistic , immature, self righteous , self-destructive thinking if I don't like it no one else going to mentality that just want to make me puke. And even the tiniest little bit is a huge problem, with this mentality I am amazed anyone is capable to keep a job.
Bos is to me a new experience on how a flight sim should feel, it might not be the best one . But it has set a new milestone witch cod never can achieve in terms of game physics.
While the FM in cod are more complex in terms of engine management and dm, they fly in a totally dead environment, absolutely without any form of airflows, turbulence and wind. This is why I bought my 737 yoke so I could at least fool myself they existed, flying in cod with a digital joystick , fingertip maneuvering into any target with ease.
And at the same time shouting out realism?
Same goes for DCS, while I am very enthusiastic with the complex engine management, the torque , the power of the airplanes, the rest offer no competition not even to old IL 2.
Every sim got flaws, not one is accurate . Let people enjoy whatever they want, there should not be any borders, or frontline. But there is, and it is made mostly by cod drivers, and they are forgetting the fact that 50 % of the Bos flyers also fly Cod and IL 2

But that surely means the devteam will disband and BoS sucks anyway and we should all get a refund NOW.

anyway... CWMV is on my ignore list, so why did i see his reply in the first place.
must investigate and check settings.

You must push a link to see his post and you probably did. I care less for the refund. I bought two accounts gave one as a gift. And I hope it stays. I will survive if it does not. I just will not fly anything else than IL 2, I had quite enough of the COD society and their arrogant attitude for a life time

I must admit that I find the damage model of the Lagg-3 quite frustrating, especially comparing the player DM to the AI DM.
Just performed my 20th (feels like at least, might have been 12 or 15) attempt to perform the short version of an "intercept Ju-87" mission.
Everytime I get within 300m distance to a Stuka, the enemy pilot pulls up 20 degrees and 1/10th second later the gunner hits me with 2 or 3 bullets, immediately taking out my engine.
Only scored 2 Stuka kills so far, one from 45 degrees offset behind (luckshot at 400m distance), one head on (that IRL would really have been dangerous, but here the Stuka pilot didn't even consider to shoot at me).
Whenever I plan my attack correctly, the sniper AI gunner kills my engine. Nothing else, always the engine, and always with the 1st, 2nd or 3rd bullet.

And now comes the annoying part:
When I give command to my AI buddies to attack the Stukas, I can watch them linger at the Stuka's six, at a distance of 100m or less, the Stuka AI gunner shoots at them like crazy but nothing happens.

Is it just me? Am I too stupid? Or is the player Lagg equipped with a glass engine while the AI ones have concrete engines?

Best regards - Mike

P.S.: To top it all off, 50% of times when my engine gets shot, within 3 seconds an AI buddy crashes into me.

Okay I eventually managed to get hold of the stukas, but only under the condition of avoiding the stuka gunner at any price.
Whenever the Stuka pulls up, I break away because 1/10th second later my engine would be dead otherwise.
Catching the Stuka by surprise (have the sun in your back) works.
Distance shots >300m work, the gunner won't engage at that distance.
Head on attacks work, the pilot doesn't shoot at you.
And, strange as always with BoS's AI routines, flying at same level like your Stuka target, closing in slowly from one side and just shooting it down from the side works too, even though the gunner could have an easy shot at you and the pilot could easily defend himself, but none of them does anything in that case, they just fly straight and let themselve get shot from 20 degrees offset.

Which brings me to the next point.
As reported here and here already, 1.008 introduced an ugly cloud bug for me.
When there are low level flat clouds (~500m), as soon as I climb above them, they become somewhat invisible when looking down and jaggy when looking at the horizon, see pics below (click for full size):

Above the clouds, looking at the horizon. Note the jagged top edge of the clouds:

Rolling left a bit and pushing down, jagged edge becomes obvious and clouds below me become somewhat invisible:

Below the clouds, now I can see them and their edge is somewhat normal. Please note that the vertical size of the clouds was virtually zero, you're either above or below them, never inside:

Climbing up. The clouds look like they have a vertical dimension when looking at them from below, but they don't ingame:

Above the clouds again, looking to the right. Horrible. Maybe I should be inside the clouds now? No clue... bug.
