Historically, level bombing with Pe-2 was performed from an altitude of 2000 m or so

Okay so let's chalk the Pe-2 misery on the bad DGEN scripting of BoS for the moment.
After a few more hours with it, I meanwhile switched to a different approach concerning BoS.
I merely take it as a "pre-alpha" for which I had to pay (for whatever reason) instead of getting payed for testing it.
Still I'm uncertain for how long I'm willing to continue testing before I expect some paycheck from the devs :P

Many THX for your feedback, Mike ...  ;)

Saves me money (in fact money is not a prob, I am ready to pay much more than BoS price to get a proper 2014/2015 era WW2 sim) and above all a lot of (wasted) time ...  :P

DGEN again...
Meanwhile I've fully unlocked all Lagg-3 features (indeed it took 20 successful missions altogether) and decided to give the Yak another try.
Apparently with raising player level (I'm at 5 while typing this) the missions oddities become harder.
That's okay, but...
I've tried 4 escort missions now and every time faced the same situation:
My flight always consists of me and my wingman only. No further friendly planes but the 8 bombers or sturmoviks (depends on mission).
My task is not to loose more than 2 bombers/sturmoviks.
All fine and granted, but over the target there are 8 enemy 109s circling above us, followed by another 8 109s 3 minutes later.
Every time.
My wingman gets shot immediately, apparently AI cannot handle the Yak at all. I took the time to watch it on externals and the maneuvering of AI with the Yak is crazy. They rather succeed with a Lagg than with a Yak.
So I'm left alone with 16 Bf 109 G-2 (first flight) and F-4 (second flight).

Not that I don't like challenges, but I'm not Chuck Norris.

4 Attempts, 4 epic fails, no joy to try that again.

FSM is still there.  I think he was just done with that particular thread ;)
No I mis spoke, it was extreme one that caled it quits.
Just another person who had contributed much in the past to other sims gone.
Classic 1 studious, alienate your earliest most enthusiastic followers. Great strategy.
Like most of the other anti BS voices out there I'll be happy to stop when the devs delivered a product as advertised. Until then have at them.

Extreme one have been out for a long time, he just stayed in the site being negative the last month. I honestly can understand him. There are next to nothing feedback from the developers. They seem untouched by every criticism , and simply refuse to bend for the majority.
I did not expect anything, I find it to be a good cfs game and entertaining, unlike the majority of cod community I do not regard myself a good pilot just because I can remember to switch on the rad´s before cranking the engine.
I am in it for the fact it is ww2. But then again I did not spend vital money on it, I can afford waisting bucks once in a while

There are some oddities but, there is definitely more variations, with random generator strange things can happen, like five heavy snowy missions in a row!

Back to topic please.
My precise, to the point opinion is that the BoS SP Campaign, the heart of BoS for single players at this point in time, and required to play to gather technology and skins for your planes (hard to avoid the SP Campaign) increases in difficulty with each level just like an arcade game (unlike FB where the enemy skill level is variable more like in real life).  That conflicts with my expectations for realism.
Don't know first hand (I am not part of the dev team), but my guess is that this should somewhat act like a "newbie training course" for BoS, not distracting new users but keeping you busy while gathering experience.
My feeling is that this isn't a bad idea in itself, but it should be implemented like that as well: Provide a new user's training campaign, then this would be absolutely fine.

For the other purpose, if unlocking is mandatory for whatever reason, each unlocking mission should be:
  • Every time the same (for each specific unlock item), so you can learn from your mistakes and perform better next time.
  • Distinctive. It should be somewhat related to the item you're going to unlock.
  • Selectable. You should be able to decide what to unlock and get the regarding mission to solve then.
  • Balanced. The more the unlocked feature plays a role in gameplay (i.e. "better" weapons), the higher the mission's difficulty level should be. Paintschemes would mark the lowest difficulty level then.

WellIt is every time I join a full realism server there are people not able to taxi, start the engine, not knowing what mixture, prop pitch are, how to close canopy. And they expect people in the midst of action to support them. No interest in reading , watch a tutorial at all. So my conclusion is it might be a good idea after all. But having the unlocks on every plane is in my opinion still bullshit. They could have unlocked it all by doing one campaign on a fighter of own choice and one bomber of own choice

To me it looks odd when I look at some player's campaign profile.
Most players I see have similar profiles to mine.
For comparison, this is my profile: http://il2sturmovik.com/stats/campaign/1152-sasstorebror/

Player Level 6
29 Aerial victories
130 Ground vehicles destroyed
105 Sorties
55 Missions completed successfully
31 Flight hours
5 Chapters completed

This is another example of a profile that looks normal to me: http://il2sturmovik.com/stats/campaign/38116-godspeed/

Player Level 6
97 Aerial victories
180 Ground vehicles destroyed
85 Sorties
10 Missions completed successfully
18 Flight hours
3 Chapters completed

Significantly more aerial victories and more ground kills, but just 1/5th of my success rate, that's why he's stuck on chapter 4.

This profile makes me wonder: http://il2sturmovik.com/stats/campaign/19886-godwind/

Player Level 7
34 Aerial victories
45 Ground vehicles destroyed
52 Sorties
18 Missions completed successfully
16 Flight hours
4 Chapters completed

Absolutely sub-par compared to me and "Godspeed", but "GodWind" has a higher player level than me and more chapters completed than "Godspeed".
What's going on there?
It's not Expert Level, I've played quite some missions on Expert Level too.
It's not long or short missions, I mainly play them long and "GodWind" has least flight hours of us all.

Strange.

can i just ask, does the dictionary lately describe 'politically correct' as 'fictional' or.....?

i am, of course, referring to the fictional Luftwaffe markings which i assume are meant to be swastikas.
i honestly don't know how to discuss this any further in a factual way, it makes me want to rant and rave, so....
do these politically correct mofo's not know that they are , in essence, DISHONOURING EVERY AIRMAN WHO FLEW OR DIED IN THE WAR, ON BOTH SIDES.

this is what happens when idiocy prevails over common sense.
i see this crap daily in my country, and across the globe.
i see it as a step back for humanity, this sort of crap.
what, should we next just pretend none of those wars ever happened?
totally diss'ing everyone who fought and died for their beliefs, right or wrong.
holy crap, the world is losing it's grip on reality. fast.

oh dear, i tried to be factual, and just ended up ranting. so sorry.
