he is one of many in cod gang wanting to destroy bos .

For killing BOS you only need the decisions made by the BOS team itself.
You give too much honour to the ATAG guys.  ;)

That we can agree on, but it still does not take away the quality BOS have compared to , well let me see, what other modern complete ww2 sim does we got. NONE
Appreciate whatever you fly , and ignore what you don't I say.
Not liking the developers simply do not exclude the sim itself

I simply informed Mike about whom he did quote

I cant believe the change around here. We are a fickle community.
Months ago since the advent of the unlocks Ive been preaching about the Evil of this dev team. Got me added to ignore lists and warnings from mods!
Seems I was a trend setter! 8)

Seriously guys, I fail to see why you are surprised! WTF did you people expect? They have never allowed substantive mods for ROF, only things that the dev team couldn't charge you for. Maps, planes all the good stuff are acquired by the devs and sold to the end user.

THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN, AND WILL NEVER WILL BE, TRULY MOD FRIENDLY!
If you think otherwise you're delusional.

I came back to BOS after the DEV team did away with mods for premium buyers as I always thought it should be. Since I expected an anti mod attitude from the devs I'm not surprised. Its not my favorite sim but its adequate.

Seriously what did you people expect? lol.

I have not change a bit, I have  in general lost interest of all flightsims, and less time to do it. The developers has always been at best amateurs regarding public relations. But to be honest. I would not spend a cent into a community like this. Ungrateful nitpickers, not social trained net bullies the lot of us.
We got exactly what we deserve, nothing

I will admit you have been a rock of late regarding most sims.
Honestly I think modded IL2 set everything else up for failure. There is simply too much in it thats too good for anything else to compete.
And its CHEAP!
And as the community ages and gains more responsibilities (work, spouses, children etc) there is less and less time. Frankly what would I rather do, play this sim or play with my 2 year old boy? Kind of a no brainer.
And add to that the devs that disply what I can only think of as a Soviet attitude toward customer service, well, recipe for disaster.
That said I think that I will order BoM, assuming the dves take the same stance toward pre orders and unlocks as they have in BoS.

In my case I have had a health issue due to a long life being in mountains and outside working winter time. my hands and feet have been exposed to low temperatures too often and too long. This have resulted in years of sleepless nights due to chronic inflammation in muzzle, and arthritis.
My kids are grown up and late this year I turn 50. All this have given me time enough to be in this lovely site and enjoy IL 2 to the full.
Now I go on chemotherapy keeping the inflammation at bay and it make me be able to enjoy hunting and other activities outdoors again.
Years of dramatic and political motivated flamewars have given me a cynical approach towards flight sim environment , but I am proud to be part of this site, that mostly have manage to rise above it, there have been some mistakes, witch I have personally been a part of, but t sum it up. IL2 and this site do rock and is the one surviving them all

Thanks for the flowers Otto.
I hope you will recover to blooming health again.

Thanks for the heads up regarding Robtek as well.
I must admit I wasn't aware of his background, as I'm not into any of the CloD stuff and/or the progress at ATAG.
While I own CloD, I've flown less than 20 hours on it, never really got into it for I never got the feeling that anything in there is better or even "right" compared to IL-2.
Not my cup of tea, so to say.

As far as BoS goes, arguably one could say that what we're complaining about now could have been seen in advance as the same happened with RoF before.
But I beg to differ.
RoF at least got a mod-enabled mode, BoS will not. For RoF reasons. That's arrogant and ignorant.
Taking any of RoFs history accounts for argument for or against anything BoS related has to be plain wrong.
It's like comparing apples to oranges.
RoF never had any serious modding community, the IL-2 sequel has one for decades already.
Trying to ignore such facts is a mistake many companies made in the past and it always results in the complete breakdown of business.
When you successfully sold fish in Japan it tells nothing about how to sell steaks in the U.S.
You can try to do it the same way but you will fail, for arrogance and ignorance.
Circle closed.

So why should we bother about this at all?
Because BoS can easily be the last chance for the IL-2 sequel to be carried on.
What company should burn it's fingers in future when a presumably successful one (777) in that genre failed already?

That's why it's worth to argue about, that's why we care:
An epic fail of BoS will likely mean that this is the end of the genre.
And after all we don't want it to end, that's why we're here.
Growing age or not, children or not.
Fresh blood spills in regularly, don't worry about that.
Fresh software might not, depending on BoS's fate.

Best regards - Mike

I totally agree with you, Mike, they don't seem to have a clue about what the consequences will be ...  >:(

No mods ===> game over !

If IL2 is still there and kicking, more than 10 years later, it is no doubt thanks to the dozens of talented and dedicated skinners/modders etc ... who devoted their free time to our beloved sim/game  :P

Of course many have left, whatever their reasons, but new ones still come in and replace them to create new AC, effects, skins, ships, maps, vehicles and what not ...  :D

amen to that :)
I find ant discussion about BOS hard, because if you like me like some aspects of it, people assume I will defend the developers behavior. In most cases I counter that with community behavior.
It is what it is, and I think costumers opinion never will be listened to

Edit: Robtek is a great guy, how ever his opinion on BOS are somewhat biased

An epic fail of BoS will likely mean that this is the end of the genre.

I disagree.  The game play design of BoS is so far out in left field any other developer looking at BoS will see it for the avant garde game that it is.  Even the 1CGS devs are at odds with one another now over the game design.  If BoS fails any other rational developer will easily see why.

If 1CGS had put out a fairly normal combat flight sim and it failed, then I would be concerned for the genre.  But BoS is anything but a fairly normal next gen combat flight sim.
