From what I've seen, the biggest reason to get BoS'd be the damage models. Metal can bend, crashing doesn't cause explosions 50% of the time and seem much more survivable. The 3d models and the map also deserve a lot of credit, but the lack of overall content is something that draws away a lot of the community. As of now, the game costs R$ 146,00 (I'm Brazilian), and while that translates to about 50 dollars, it's just too damn expensive for a game with 8 planes and one map. Yet, I hope the game is successful, because then they'll be able to amke new games set in new theaters. I, for one, would love to see an Il-2 like BoS set in the PTO or about the 8th AF.

Sometimes i wish i was an millionaire so i just could gather some top notch programmers, offer CUP mods cooperation and salary and create the best modern simulator about ww2 aircraft
which should be free for all with any mod support
this would be like the thanks gesture to the world of il-2 which is continuing for what?7 years i guess of bringing me the best emotions i could get from an epic as il-2 sturmovik simulator.

But sadly enough those are just dreams, im no millionaire
maybe there will be a hero one time, who will make this step...

just imagine-fully featured il-2 on modern engine, all tweaks, fx, physics with full FMB and mod support for FREE for EVERYONE FOREVER

that would be nice

at least we got CUP & HSFX-those will be rocking my world for years to come i guess

as an owner of BoS-BoS sucks, it's like a flat toy barbie, shiny but unuseable

In my point of view , what you say is simply not true. BOS has become a good game and is far superior to old IL 2 in playability online. The plane models are compared to IL2 from fair to excellent, compared to COD equal to bad.
If any ww2 sim/ game is to bring people in to this genre, this will. And it will migrate people  over to COD and old IL2. Deeming a game as useless on such a general base as you do is respectless and in my point of view straight out stupid.
It has its shortcomings, but compared to old IL 2 it is number of aircraft, maps and objects that is different and better in old IL 2, and of course FMB, witch make a helluva better offline game. Offline is rubbish in BOS. The rest make BOS superior.
Do not get me wrong, I love old IL 2, but you do not protect old IL2 by "hating" everything new

That's true, all other is a matter of taste.
BoS is far superior to old IL 2 in playability online?
I have yet to spot anything matching UP3.

Don't get me wrong, 109 jockeys will have a great time online with BoS, but I'm a mud mover by choice and all I get online with BoS when doing so is a horde of kids on my tail with no friendly player providing any help, because it's so much easier to gather points elsewhere.
On these shiny tiny BoS missions me as a bomber or ground attack pilot attracts enemy fighters like shit does to flees and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it.
That, and the sufficiently stressed fact that BoS offline is "nada" after 3 days, resulted in myself not having played BoS for more than 5 minutes in total during the past... 5? months.
Now you could say "so you've got no clue what you're talking about" but trust me, I tried it more than enough before and eventually just decided not to waste any more time being the pray for little ruski kids until something generally changed in BoS to make online gameplay enjoyable for people not just running for the easiest defenseless pray on a little map with nowhere to hide.

Oh I havent flown the 109 since early Alpha in BOS , I am only flying bombers and underdogs mostly PE 2. I fly offline IL2 4.13 and the Peska is simply a great plane in both. I oppose only to the fact that people use subjective reasons for calling any game a failure. If you do, there should be some objectivity and facts. What we prefer to fly is a totally other story. And then we are on the same page.
I am currently one of very few people somewhat active in COD , BOS and IL2. I do not have any political reasons for obstructing any of these, but I sure find a lot of people with political reasons. And those I fight

That's okay Otto, so we're on the same page ;)
I actually still have CloD on my disk as well, and I'm flying it more frequently lately than I do BoS ;)

Sorry for replying to myself...
I saw a youtube review a week ago (can't find it anymore) which complained about the grass rendering distance.
According to that video, the fixed (unchangeable, no settings) rendering distance for grass is 20 meters.
Is that right?
This video seems to confirm it:

Hello Mike the video was first posted in page six of the Game version 1.104 discussion:

The link begins where the video was posted, I will let you read and make your own conclusions. ;)

Hope this helps.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Is that right?

It's right and has been noticed by other members too.
Another graphic issue are the changing textures of trees when flying low.
Clearly visible from 1m05s.

I think the grass and trees can be fixed easily.
On the other hand in videos I still see black smoke columns at Stalingrad fading away and popping up again. Or it has not been solved yet or perhaps it does have to do with someone's setting?

I hadn't played for several months, waiting for the summer maps. But those trees are really distracting when flying low. Guess I'll wait some more until they fix them.

They aim to fix the 20 mtrs rendering, the tree stuff does not bother me too much. It is a normal thing in flight sims and they seek a fix for it. To me the summermap and the taxi to runway opt they patched in is a gift from heaven. I find myself enjoying BOS every day now. From a ground pounders point of view this is great fun flying online

Right, honnestly, I did not realize the "tree rendering distance" until somebody told me
