I see shadows only, the 3d dissappears. In 4.12 MA5.30.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have the same problem with a lot of U.S. Tanks and Jeeps too since any years.

Just a comment, not a criticism...!

DBW1.71  crashes at 70%    not sure why, usually manage to get the mods working

DBW1.71  termine at 70%    je ne suis pas sure porquoi, comme d'habitude les mods fonction bien  (excuse le Francais)

trop difficile a expliquer en Francais

If I install the mod without the ini file changes, DBW1.71 loads and works ok, but without the mods. As soon a I make any changes to the chief.ini I get a 70% crash

The game engine can only render a limited number of large tga files and also does not like to have them placed one behind the other. When a certain number of individually mapped objects within the field of view is exceeded or aligned in a particular manner, then some are ignored, the effect is random, but the result is the "replacement shadow mesh effect" that you see.

 It is a well known problem and can be slightly reduced by careful use of LODs which change to a lower res tga at closer distances. (say 10m, 25m, 100m 500m). However, it is a limiting issue when populating scenarios with the current game engine.

Maybe I missed something "dans les versions Françaises" but would I be correct in stating that the disappearing objects phenomenon only occurs in "Objects"?  Does it happen with "Stationary Objects" or "Stationary Vehicles" or "Stationary Ships" etc?  Does it happen with any imported 'new' moveable objects/planes/vehicles? 

If it is restricted only to "Objects" does that give us a clue as to what may be the cause?

As to "objects from other games" being the cause....I don't think so.  I have created objects (people, static vehicles) from scratch in 3DS Max and they can have the problem too (i.e. they're not from another game per se).  Perhaps it's maybe something in the script (Buggy buggy)?  A tweak, a setting, a hook or something of that nature.  I don't know anything about the scripting process.  Has anyone checked that?  Is there another script out there that could be used as a comparison test (i.e. do objects disappear with one script but not the other)?

Just tossing it out there?

It's a tga related effect, and as such effects the number of tga files that the game can render in any one view. AFAIK that is irrespective of the type of object the tga is mapped to.

En fin ils` ont  trouvé quelqun qui est capable de implementer les resultats de leur formidable travaille dans les autres versions du IL-2 !   :-\\

still trying to get this OUTSTANDING looking mod working in DBW 1.71 or 4.12 with SAS modact 5.2

Its soooo frustrating.
I'll keep trying  any tips welcome
