More Skins Needed for Parkers Crossroads
« on: December 23, 2014, 03:46:47 PM »

Hey Guys,

As previously detailed , I am nearing release of my SEOW Campaign of "Parkers Crossroads" set Dec 22-23 1944 in the Ardennes , and I am still in search of a few skins. If anyone knows of any out there , or is willing to knock one out , please let me know.

1) US 9th TAF Beaufighter NF Mk X

While there are similar skins out there , there are 2 discrepencies I would like to avoid if at all possible.
First , on the skins I have found on the net , the border around the us bars is in red ; I would like it to be in blue.
Second , the skins available have a specific squadron logo ( a Black Panther) on the nose. I would prefer a generic no logo nose , and no serial ( apologies to historically specific skinners).

2) RCAF Spit FR XIV
Apologies - no colour images found

It seems the RCAF used PR spits in normal theatre camo.
Note the remains of the DDay invasion stripes under the fuselage. I don't know if they would still be under the wings at this time or not.
I would love if the skin could include the lens of an oblique camera behind the cockpit , as in the image below.
I don't know if there would be a camera mounted on both sides , or only on the port side.

Also , no rondels please ; fin flash only , and no serial numbers please.

3) Late war FW 189

While this example is a nachtjaeger , I need a more generic late west front uhu.
Ideally , this scheme would be excellent for the upper surfaces , but I would like an appropriate RLM 1944-45 grey for the under surfaces , rather than black .
Also , I would like not to have any tail boom yellow or white bands.

4) P47D27 skins modified to P47D22 canopy standards.
I have some excellent 9th AF P47D27 Skins , but I believe that squadrons at this time were often of mixed
variants as newer aircraft arrived, and I would like some P47D22 skins  that match the nice schemes I have for
D27s. I know that no skinner wants their work to be modified , so I have attempted to contact the artist to see
what my options are. I have been unable to make contact. I am not inclined to alter another artists work , so
this leaves me to either live with generic skins , or find someone willing to knock out new skins.
If there is a jug painter who is willing to take on the task ,please let me know.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all you skinners out there who make such an enormous difference in the quality of everyone's flight simming experience with the product of your labour. Like many other user enders out there , I have several swollen paint scheme files on several different installs , and yet I am always excited to download and enjoy a new skin.
Thanks to you all , from me and all the other users only with no talent to do what you guys do.

So you want a generic MkXIV with fake camera and invasion stripes under the fuselage?

If so I can do that and the Beau

Thank you Phase3 that would be awesome , though I would like the Spit FRXIV camera in the fuselage upper left quadrant of the rondel area - oblique angle shot . Hmm. I hadn't considered this being a hitch -  if you do a rondels only skin , I guess the ingame rondels would be layered over the lens , wouldn't they?
Were there also cameras under fuselage in Spit FR XIVs? If so that might be less problematic.
Your judgement.

Thanks again for your consideration.

These look superb Phase3,

Thank you very much. I truly appreciate the work , and especially the willingness to meet not purely historical demands.
They will be excellent immersion enhancers.

Thanks again.

I'll stick them in the FMB now and see how they look !

Hey Phase3,

Your skins are as usual exquisite. I do , however have the problem I wondered about with the Spit FR XIV.
The Upper Fuselage camera lens is obscured by the in game rondel. I don't know what the practical options are.
I expect that even if you were inclined to add a rondel for me , then I wouldn't be able to use the ingame squadron
codes which I would like to use. And I wouldn't ask you to - and indeed wouldn't want to manage an entire squadrons
                  worth of skins anyway.
I am content to use the great skins and have the rondel be where it is.
Thanks again , and I posted this to you not as a complaint but rather as an informative - though I suspect you were
already aware of the repercussions of my request.
