Many Thanx Mike & Stefano, I did have the SAS Utilities mod installed but decided to d/l again. The mod I had installed had 3 files in the folder, the one I d/l had 6 files. Installed this new one and now, all works fine. Couldn't have done it without you. Many thanx.

I know this may be a little nit-picky..... But any chance of the Harrier having a arrestor hook for carrier landings?

Why?

In historical, Harrier doesn't have such a strong gears.
Harrier uses vertical landing on carriers.

-I got it to work in TFM 412 adding the latest Common Utils 

-Tested in TFM 412 .
No  problem to open canopy at MACH 1 speed

One other little nice thing I noticed with the a/c, F/A-14, when the wings are folded the under wing stores don't disappear the way the do on default a/c. The only other a/c that I've found like this is the F8F Bearcat. Looks great! Swell job.

The Harrier can take off vertically only if it has NO loadouts .
Then , when landing vertically , the engine overheats and the plane hits the ground  too fast and explodes.

I think that the center of thrust feels right when the flaps are raised, but I find that the aircraft is not flyable with flaps lowered.
While trying to land on a carrier, if I think that I'm a bit slow, I'll throttle up to increase speed, but the thrust points my nose into the waves.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Btw, I would LOVE to see some 'mo sukhoi, there are (currently) enough miggies for all!

If you are staying at one point, it WILL overheat even in RL at some point. Harrier could VTOL even with one pair of DT's, but that's maximum loadout for it and it could reach only few meters like this...

If you are a bit slow, don't ever try to reduce vector angle - THAT will sink you. Just throttle up a bit and fly like with a helicopter. Approach  with angle 60, then, when over the deck, give it 90 and it's a heli. Harrier lands like a feather then.

It's bigger problem when taking off - here is procedure that I use for short takeoff:
Angle 0, full throttle.
When at M=0,16, give it angle 60.
Climb with nose a bit down - after you reach M=0,3, rise flaps and give it angle 0 - now you're ready to fly. And no pointing nose down.

I'll have to try this. My Harrier will take off at 90 with full loadout but will overheat within 15 seconds with engine fire, loss of power and my untimely death.
Zero loadout gives me a little more time but not much before the overheating. Landing is basically the same way. I can't utilize VTOL for more than a few seconds because once it overheats I have to act fast. There is no stopping the engine shutdown after that. If I reduce power even a little to try and cool it off, I sink like a stone.

Great mod though. Once up it flys great and kills stuff with ease. There should be awards for modding achievements like this!
