Roland D.II Semi-Historical/But-Not-Quite Pack
« on: January 07, 2015, 09:31:27 PM »

   Fellow pilots,

It is my extreme pleasure to share with you the product of a full day of boredom!! And resulting several days of good fun!

Some time back, I began once again to take to the bloody skies in tiny plywood, and canvas fighters, taking my chances against the most dubious adversaries ever to take wing: the IL-2 AI!!

Soon I found myself attached to a valient Jagdstaffel on the Western Front. With newer fighters going to more prestigious units, we fought on, flying our tested Roland D.II fighters alongside the newer Fokker and Albatros fighters of other Jastas.

I have flown a total of 14 missions, intercepting bombers, and fighters, pulling recon duty, and attacking trains and convoys. Wounded 3 times and shot down once, crashing quite close to the enemy line, I nonetheless have survived yet alive! My total score is 8 confirmed kills, with 2 additional unconfirmed.

   -----------------------------------------------

Now on to the skins! Firstly: These are NOT i repeat NOT intended to represent any historical pilots or machines. The Jasta pattern of a yellow nose/struts was based on Jasta 10, but is semi-historical only. I simply think that the yellow looks nice. :) In this pack of skins, I will offer for your use(either as reenforcements OR targets) my entire set of skins for my Jagdstaffel. A grand total of 14 skins.

Credit MUST be given to MURDOC and co, for the use of the wonderfully complex and confusing template. Once i figured out the layers(all in russian) it was most perfect! Thank you! I would be in error if I did not also give credit to the original developers of IL-2 Sturmovik, the single biggest, broadest, most fun flight sim EVER, the builders/packers of the IL-2 1916 MOD, and the creators of the Roland D.II fighter in that very MOD! Thanks all for your time and effort!

My work on the skins includes LOTS of imagination and some Roland research, along with many many new layers for paints, repositioned markings, new dirt, more soot, etc.

   ----------------------------------------------

First you will get my personal aircraft, a Pfalz built example sporting yellow struts, and my personal marking of a giant 23 on the fuselage. This plane should fly only with his wingman in a pair. Set this plane to "ACE" ;)

Second you will get my wingman. Set this plane to "ACE" This one is the personal mount of my brother, known on SAS as Quinch001. I do not use this one in my missions, it only flies if he flies alongside me. However I wanted to offer it now as a salute to him, since he will be flying very little any longer, due to starting his USAF career IRL. Salute!

Third you will recieve 3 "ACE" skins, these are fighters with some sort of personalization for their pilots. These fly in my flight offline, but will now lead your 3 flights into battle. Set these to "VETERAN" if using FMB for missions.

Fourth you will get an additional 9 fighters to fill out your 3 flights and bring your Jasta up to full strength. These represent both Roland built and Phalz built examples, with various adaptations of the Jasta's signature yellow. Please note: Due to rush delivery to the front, the replacement Phalz built machines tend to arrive without yellow noses, or quite often with solid black tail planes, in spite of repeated requests to recieve them with the proper markings. Set these planes to "AVERAGE"

And there you have it! A massively huge pack of new D.II skins for your flying pleasure! I do most humbly hope that you enjoy flying or destroying these beautiful machines as much as i enjoyed painting them.

WARNING!: These skins MAY require you to be running the High-Def Skin MOD.

Have fun.

               Salute!
