Hello Dreamk, thank you very much for the information it is greatly appreciated. 8)


The entries you mention are what I had a look at, moving them about, deleting parts, and generally seeing what happened.

The forward firing gun was one of the things I encountered but nothing I did really helped fix the underlying issue with the turrets but obviously I was trying various things not really knowing what was going on, your post clarifies some of that, thank you very much indeed.

I have sent Gio a link to the aircraft you see in the thread and as it was running in my DBW 1.71, I also have not tried it in DBW 1916 yet. ;)

We will have to wait to see what he thinks is the way forward with it, but when time permits, probably at the weekend I will have another go myself using your information.

Hello guys, a quick update from me on this. ;)


I deactivated the entries Gio used for the turrets and tried to get two going myself.

The java is still TB-3 nose and D3A rear with parts coming from the 3do of the D3A as well as some already there from the original by Gio,

It works kind of for the AI. :D




I had trouble with the rear gunners orientation, the turret would point out to port no matter what I did with the Matrix tool. ???

This was cured using a renamed Turret1A_D0 from the DH-9 so that it pointed rearwards.


The difficulty is that while I can use the front gun in the way it should be the rear is a little strange. :(

I can move the gun from the D3A but when I fire it the muzzle flash comes from the other gun, a hook issue I guess.

From tests it also appears that the AI uses the turrets even if I am in them, guess I fucked something up. :o




My gun in the turret if I man it also seems to dissapear depending on where it is turned, not very good at this am I. :-[





Had more success with the Dreamk PuW bombs though, here are some different loads although I have no information as
to exactly what the combinations would be.










I think it is time to pass this on to someone who knows exactly how these turrets work as I think I have gone as far as I can with it
and I really need to take time away from modding, this was on the bench so I have continued with it this weekend.

Hello guys, try as I may I have not yet got this to work as I would have liked so I am posting the link to the version I currently have running in my DBW 1.71. ;)

Hopefully someone will be able to do justice to the excellent model Gio has kindly produced for us, for now this at least gives it a slot of its own in the sim.

Sorry about that Stalker I must have been having a brain fart, senile old man that I am, I had removed a test bombardier station that was not working as I wanted but forgot to remove the entry in the java. :-[

Not a problem I would think if you are flying it. :D


Anyway, yes in a combat flight sim you do need to be able to shoot things down. ;)


I have been playing around with the toughness section of the FM and I am getting something.




This is the AEG shot up by Camel's in DBW 1916, as you see bits are coming off:





I do seem to get the fuselage rolling around though:



The question posed here is this a FM issue or something in the java or even the model itself, or a combination of all three, sorry I do
not have the answer.

One thing I notice is that bullet holes appear in the skin after a fair amount of hits but the engines never seem to set on fire. ???

I tried a flight of B-239s and they took a few shots and the bomber exploded, not so with a Polikarov or Camel. :o

Also something else I noticed is that if no load is carried the AI is reluctant to gain hight and turns to the flight path, yet with
a load the aircraft will continueto go forward and try to climb.

All strange stuff. ;)

Experiments continue, although I am long overdue a rest from all this mad stuff so do not hold your breath waiting for a solution.

A new FM file for your AEG_GIV, just paste into your existing mod and allow to overwrite.

I have tinkered with the toughness setting because the previous version seemed inpervious
to damage from enemy fighters, it may now be too vulnerable.

I still need to alter the parameters for speed and weight etc.


Previous link removed as a new FM was added to the download with a new link in the post further on. ;)

A target for the FM is fine but if you want to do missions with this aircraft climb after take-off as a player is not adequate, not have the possibility of defense makes irritating every possible mission, I do not understand the need to change the cockpit (perhaps the Java package is a type of FM and class requires certain cockpit?), the choice of installation "DBW17.1" forces you to install a large number of Mod to use it in a historically correct, these are criticisms that I hope does not offend or limit the desire to seek a slot but only (in my personal opinion) to identify the critical issues.

(Per un bersaglio la FM va bene ma se si vuole fare delle missioni con questo aereo  la salita dopo il decollo come giocatore non è adeguata , non avere la possibilita di difesa rende irritante ogni possibile missione , non capisco la necessita di cambiare i cockpit ( forse i Java sono a pacchetto ? un tipo di FM e class richiede determinati cockpit ?) , la scelta di installazione "DBW17.1" costringe ad installare un grande numero di Mod per poterlo utilizzare in maniera storicamente corretta , queste sono critiche che spero non offendano o limitino la voglia di fare uno slot ma cercano solo ( a mio giudizio personale ) di individuare delle criticita. )

Hello Gio, all critisism is fine by me I am no expert with any of this and was merely trying to make a slot to get it into the sim without using other aircraft to make it operate.

The Fm is actually that of the TB-3 and was renamed for the AEG to facilitate any changes that may be needed to make it closer to the AEG, alas I know very little about how those parameters are calculated, so this was altered only in the amount of crew and the toughness.  Why performance is affected again I do not know but I did mention the fact somewhere in the thread.

Prior to the alteration of the toughnes Stalker had mentioned that it was impossible to shoot down the aircraft, now it may be too easy.

The slot tends to use classfiles already available in the sim with slight alterations as do the cockpits and turrets, someone like Mike would probably write a new piece of java for a new aircraft like yours, sadly I do not have his talent so have to rely on existing dumped classes which will most likely retain some of the existing aircrafts attributes in the new model.  This also entails using the 3D from the model as well which is why I had so much trouble trying to get the turrets to work, the best I could do was hide the fuselage parts but that gave strange views when you are in the turrets so ultimately I just posted it with a cockpit.

Maybe I should have just released it as a AI version, or better still lerft it for someone else. ;)

Again the TB-3 was the aircrft choosen for aircrft and cockpits, hence my trying to disguise the TB cockpit parts, very poorly I might add but the other option was to leave it as it was.  I am sure it is possible for someone of your talent to swap the TB parts for your own 3D, sadly I get blue screens if I try to do such things.

I released it as it is in the hope that others would be able to finally bring it to completness with all the attributes of a actual AEG GIV, unfortunately I can only do so much.


Anyway, I am now taking time out from modding, I tried to get this somewhere near because I had already made a start.

I appologise for any failings my work has, hopefully one day I may understand just how it all works so will do a much better job of it.

The purpose of my criticism was also know a little better the issues with the class, I want to use in the selection of slot I have directed that the U2V convinced that it was more convenient to add new class in the control lines (replicating and adapting existing ones) , but I have no knowledge of the field, the FM TB3 believe used as a basis for the Caproni CA30 / 33, which seems to have the same problem a very difficult climb rate, the possible adaptation of the cockpit is possible even if my cockpits are pretty mediocre.
Maybe watching as an example of the slot Caproni and its class files the problem of the turrets can be solved?

(Lo scopo delle mie critiche era anche conoscere un po meglio le problematiche con i class , io nella scelta dello slot da utilizzare mi sono indirizzato a quello del U2V convinto che fosse piu conveniente aggiungere nei class nuove linee di comando ( replicando ed adattando quelle esistenti ) , ma non ho nessuna conoscenza del settore , lo FM del TB3 credo sia utilizzato come base anche per il Caproni CA30/33 che sembra avere lo stesso problema del rateo di salita molto difficile , lo eventuale adattamento del cockpit è fattibile anche se i miei cockpit sono abbastanza mediocri .Forse guardando come esempio lo slot del Caproni e i suoi class files il problema delle torrette puo essere risolto ?)
