After using a free library to display the HIM structure I realised I had no choice but to write my own rendering library, which is going well.




You have the root node which is the name of the aircraft extracted from the HIM path.

Then I create a node for each record in the HIM file. Damage meshes are included in the parent node to make the display easier to read.

Hidden nodes are displayed in red as I often see modders leave in meshes that aren't used in game. This is bad as it consumes games resources.

You can drag each node around, scale and pan the display, etc.

Next step is to allow you to double click on a node to get a similar display of all the details of a node.  Nodes for actual meshes, damage meshes, LOD's, hooks etc.

This should make it easy to navigate and understand.

Also a hell of a lot easier to see bugs.

You can see instantly you have three LOD's and a bunch of collision meshes

Lost a lot of time what with several events all happening  at once.

I had to get alpha submission out at work, I got ill, and my son got married, So I have been busy.

I have made some progress though. All on my engine simulation.

I now have an app that let's you design jet engines.

You enter a load of settings extracted from public data and get a simulation of any engine.

I currently handle turbojets, turbofans, afterburners, and ram jet's.

The tool then creates a image and shows you the air flow. (animated)

You can then run some standard tests and get graphs back.

At the moment I have to sort out the crap atmospheric model then I can publish it and give you some java code to use the simulated engine.

Don't know for sure what you mean here, Stainless (talking about your model or the game's one), but it is a well known fact that IL2 first being a tribute to the Russian low altitude plane that bears the name of the "sim", the atmospheric model of the game is very far from being convincing, say above 6000 m ...  ;)

Well In this tool it appears that a jet engine does not lose thrust when the air gets thin..... but wrong really.

... and also, it is the model of a ... prop ... that the game in fact uses to model jets behaviour ...  8)

Yes that's one thing I really want to change.

Shouldn't be hard to insert good java code to replace the hacked system we have in place at the moment.
