Murmansk expedition (update v2.4)
« on: February 28, 2015, 12:08:14 PM »

Featuring RAF No. 81 Squadron operations in Murmansk (Sep.-Oct. 1941). Player may also choose Russian side, during 1942-44.

BACKGROUND (quoting Wikipedia)
"Mk II Hurricanes played an important air defence role in 1941, when the Soviet Union found itself under threat from the German Army approaching on a broad front stretching from Leningrad, Moscow, and to the oil fields in the south. Britain's decision to aid the Soviets meant sending supplies by sea to the far northern ports, and as the convoys would need to sail within range of enemy air attack from the Luftwaffe based in neighbouring Finland, it was decided to deliver a number of Hurricane Mk II, flying with Nos. 81 and 134 Squadrons of No. 151 Wing RAF, to provide protection."

REQUIREMENTS
The included Asura’s DGen_MOD v2.0.5.0 must be installed with all of its files as included. As a consequence, this is a standalone campaign: do not try to play it at same time with other DGen campaigns (you can play static campaigns, though). It is not allowed to play it with other versions of Asura’s DGen_MOD different from that contained in this pack. Requires game version 4.14.1 set for mods as per TD instruction and Hurricane Mk.IIB Trop (given current troubles at FM, I was forced to include as “Extra_Planes(ETO)” + relevant “AutoDiffFM_for_4.14”, install both by JSGME).

Hi Greybeard!

Just wanted to thank you for this campaign (and the other ones) u made.
I'm gonna start my 4th mission, weather is ugly, with big clouds if not rain... that's a challenge. But the Hurricane is trusty - i have actually 6 kills. Finding my airdrome for landing, when low off fuel, already made my scarry ones.
Playing it with CUP packmod's, and everything is running fine (except the statics planes on airfields that have no marking at all, but it's a small problem I saw on any other DGen campaign I tried with this configuration.)
Lot of fun.

Cheers!

Thank you very much! Feedback, reviews and comments are much rare and appreciated.

Interesting this glitch of unmarked parked planes; I think you should point out to the CUP team too.

I love Hurricane. Stable and controllable, it is an excellent gun platform. When armed with four Hispano, its fire power is devastating. Robust and reliable, bring you home almost always.

Cheers,

Added some special files to exploit 4.13.1 (or higher) new features: historical squadrons and new P-40E.

The base campaign is still v.2 and compatible with ALL game version from 4.07 onward. But, if you run 4.13.1 or higher, you may install special files included in the pack, always by JSGME, overwriting (temporarily) the basic ones; actually, you'll see "grayed out" the basic campaign when installed by JSGME the additional folder.

The scope is exploiting 4.13.1 new features; for instance you can choose to fly for 2nd GSAP VVS SF (Guards Mixed Air Regiment of the Northern Fleet Air Forces), flying the new P-40E. Other available choices are Hurricane IIB Mod for 78th IAP, Tomahawk IIB for 20th GIAP or P-400 for 19th GIAP.

Really tempting Greybeard ... thank you very much.
I had a go at your previous version (which was excellent) but a Russian carreer ... I really have to clone myself !
It would be a good excuse to spend time on 4.13.1 and try Asura DGEN ...

Hi Zoran and thanks for your appreciation.

... but a Russian carreer ... I really have to clone myself !

Sorry, I don't understand... :-X

Latest Asura's DGen is worth a try; I exploited only a small part of its capabilities, mainly the finally working option which allows to retain old mission files, without the need to painfully rework all of them.

Thank you for the feedback on Asura's DGEN.

Re cloning I was talking about time:
- The master does map building 85% of the time and flies to test his new map. The other 15% is for flying, to test the new map.
- The first clone develops scripts to transfer campaigns and missions to a different map or to generate place names for maps using geomap data.
- The second clone starts setting up a DGEN/DCG campaign for the Volkhov front to find out if the new map is on the right track and if the process could be streamlined for existing maps.
- The third clone install new flavours of the game and tries them, VPMedia or Asura new DGEN.
- The fourth clone would like to keep translating or flying campaigns by Aviaskins folks.
And then ... I would really try to play your campaign, so I need another clone please !!!

All the best!

Just a few words GB to say thank you for your Murmansk update, not that I played it (boooooh!!!) but it was was the inspiration to get DGEN 1.1 running on my machine and creating my first DGEN campaign. 3 nights later, thanks to Murmansk (and scores of Motorhead's Moscow files) I used as a template: it is happy days here. Thank you, thank you!
Now I am a little concerned that I would just fly instead of map making ...
