Hi Monty,
I was looking around for advice on updating old missions and campaigns to CUP.  For example, what are typical problems (and fixes) with missions built in previous versions, known incompatibilities, etc?  However, it sounds like you recommend starting from scratch with 4.12. By the way, I'm a huge fan of your New TFM campaigns and I'm looking forward to whatever you've got planned in the future.

DOF       My problem seems to be FM call loop
From my log.lst this block loops
FM called 'FlightModels/FokkerEIII.fmd:FokkerE3' is being loaded from File: 'fokkere3'
::::: I deleted all the "FM called" of the in-between aircraft to save space. They match my air.ini
FM called 'FlightModels/HB_W29.fmd:HB_W_FM' is being loaded from File: 'hb_w_fm'
I stopped counting the loops at 35 times

From my initlog.lst
.................      time  ......

7 minutes.
After delay everything works fine.
Suggestions?

Hey Aviar,

Find your favourite runway textures from your mod stash and create the following folder structure changing #XXX for #DOF, #WAW & #JTW:

Code: [Select]
JSGMEMODS\#CUP_NoAlphaRunway\#XXX\DudeWheresMyRunway\3do\Airfield\bitumenearth
JSGMEMODS\#CUP_NoAlphaRunway\#XXX\DudeWheresMyRunway\3do\Airfield\Desert
JSGMEMODS\#CUP_NoAlphaRunway\#XXX\DudeWheresMyRunway\3do\Airfield\ground
JSGMEMODS\#CUP_NoAlphaRunway\#XXX\DudeWheresMyRunway\3do\Airfield\groundwinter
JSGMEMODS\#CUP_NoAlphaRunway\#XXX\DudeWheresMyRunway\3do\Airfield\muddyground

Then copy in the four appropriate texture files to each folder:
AirPrtGrnd_512.tga
AirPrtGrnd_256.tga
AirPrtGrnd_128.tga
AirPrtGrnd_32.tga

Activate with JSGME and let us know if it did the trick.

I don't have a 'mod stash', but are you implying that everyone's CUP install looks like this?

possible bug report, if anyone could test this and report if it works for them or if they can reproduce my errors would be greatly appreciated:

clean working CUP, WaW module, planes: F4U-4, F4U-4B, F4U-5N and AU-1

loading these aircraft in a clean FMB map as the Player aircraft results in il-2 1946 stopping at 100% loading, but it will still respond to ESC. the logfile shows an almost endless loop (hundreds and hundreds of entries of the following):

Not so here.  Here are all of the Corsairs listed sitting in the Solomons, all are Player aircraft and all load swiftly even running Skype in the background.

turned out it was my fault, i moved around some files and forgot about it [sas_sound_01.sfs from the sfs_auto folder]; while i was testing other things some days ago. the corsairs where just coincidently the only plane i tested since then, that needed something out of that SFS file... so. user error!

Good news mate - happy to help with a positive test.   ;D

The key is always to check the content of those SFS Folders and remember that a totally clean mod-folder, for any CUP module, can be obtained from the last part of ANY set and re-installed in less than a minute.

Hi CoolBreeze

Anything built earlier than 412 will not feature Taxi-To-Park.  That means no hangar starts, no revetment starts, no parking area starts; which kills it for me right there.

Also potentially missing from missions prior to TFM/CUP? - Ambient Sounds, birds, moving wind-socks and flags plus a whole brace of new objects, better vehicles etc.

Old stuff will have to be opened on 412 FMB and re-made.  Move the aircraft to proper parking designations, add more scenery, add sounds, etc, etc...

When I say start from scratch, it is plausible to start with a previous mission set but they will have to be edited by hand inside 412 FMB, tested and re-saved.

There are no 'quick-fixes' because 412 FMB takes Il2 from the level of an arcade-game towards its potential as a flight simulator.  Don't look back!

I urge everyone to roll up their sleeves, get into FMB and start tweaking.  I am doing this right now, starting with over 250 new missions for DoF then moving on to a full conversion of TFM for CUP-WAW

Next I will release several of my jet campaigns, from SWOTL to Korea, Vietnam the Middle East, the Falklands...  Screaming Eagles Over Korea (VF51) has been re-written for CUP and is in the final stages.  The Vietnam missions are being written and made in consultation with a number of Vietnam Vets; they crackle with tension and atmosphere!

Note the Plane-Guard helo here.  Didn't have a Seaking but the RN Wessex really looks the part for this Falklands scenario.  My water looks a lot better now too - new pics later...

If anyone wants to take my old stuff and use it as a basis for new 412 material feel free to do what you like.  After all, anything released free online is up for grabs and I don't need any special acknowledgement - just grab it and go for it.

When we have the new material collated I will help anyone with new stuff get it tested in C.U.P., packaged, skinned and released.  At my development labs in Hangar-19 I share the space with some of the premier skinners in Il2.  We will also have a thread here for the new campaign, mission and skin-sets in a short time. - That's next...

On another subject; loading issues, parachute errors, boot-up delays, in-game slide shows et al... usually signal a lack of PC resources.  Aside from a good rig, by today's standards, a good graphics card is the most important thing for flight-simming.  I'm not suggesting a super-rig is necessary, but a good modern machine with plenty of RAM and a card at least on a par with NVIDIA GTX 750+ will banish all graphic woes.  Il2-C.U.P. doesn't push a modern graphics card at all, but even a two-year-old card will struggle and lap tops won't do either.

Thanks SAS Tom2, tried the settings you said on page 72, and it solved most of the problem.  Still getting the odd QM coming up with wierd colours but I noticed that it is together with a kind of engine die down noise.  Going to download and try the Hi Res mod you suggested and see what happens, thanks again, will report on progress.

i would like to formally suggest the opening of a dedicated subforum for CUP, just like we have now for DBW, UP, HSFX, etc.

wouldn't that be much easier for the users and the people behind CUP to keep an overview? right now if a person has a problem, or wants to help someone else and he writes a reply to this thread, it might get buried in the huge count of pages this thread already has.

this would not only be a place for users seeking help, but also a proper place to post CUP exclusive missions/campaigns, i would imagine.

please consider this!

...and, I forgot it, everything was smooth (except in case of some explosions) regarding the performance up to now...

P.S. Btw, something came to my mind, when referencing time, maybe B.C. should be established as "Before CUP"  :)

Cheers...
