Yes it is possible..cup is basically 4.12 TFM on steroids but the campaigns should work without restrictions

Guys,

I have a kind of newbie question/request.

Is there any way to get the wind blowing sound back when we fly with our canopy opened? I don't know for you guys but I love flying my Ki43, canopy opened, looking for enemies with the sound of the wind blowing around me.
In CUP I've noticed that we get an engine sound with the canopy closed and a very different one with the canopy opened up (which does not equal to normal engine sound+wind, as it does in my ModAct5.3 install).

I've mainly used a basic ModAct 5.3 till moving to CUP so I don't know whether this is a standard feature, a ModAct feature or if it is a feature of any other dedicated mod I could easily add to my CUP install.

Thanks in advance to anybody who can help or provide any hint about that.

On my install i can hear the wind blowing nicely when opening the canopy
have you checked the required settings for tigwrs sound mod? Not only the ones in game but also in conf.ini?

its great to hear that, but as a test i have tried to play the four days in june campaign from tfm, but the video tracks are not working properly. the screen is gibberish with what seems like a truck blocking the view. the campaign runs fine for the first 3 missions but on the fourth mission all the planes both jap and american explodes on the ground.

i tried to test this, since i was curious. clean FMB map, with just 1 ki-43 at 2500m. around 300km/h.

the engine sound of open cockpit is the same as the engine sound of F2 outside view, it is really hard to hear anything except the engine.

then  i turned OFF the engine and there is a wind sound playing , you can hear it, when you open the cockpit, or switch to F2 outside view, but it is not loud enough (on my installation) to really be heard with the engine running.

there are no error messages that seem to indicate any direct file problems....


PS:

i do get a constant error on every mission loading in the beginning (it usually is around 20 of these errors with different numbers for the XXXXX - they appear for every plane in a mission, right after their FM is called) - another person reported these errors, but there was no fix or even hint as to what cause those... i just mention them, because they have the word "sound" in them, they probably are NOT RELATED at all.....

Decipher.
If I run a log file  I too get several of the  Sound sample -  cannot load sample null. error as well.
Also the FM's seem to be reloading multiple times?
Now I just run the Sim with the log off and my frames do not go to zero anymore.

Can you not just  amend the engine sound volume in game with the Sound Setup?
Effects also can be made louder -  not sure if that means  Wind noise as well but could be worth a try?

oh yeah you are right, when i am not testing, i usually disable the logfile too, to prevent unnecessary data writing etc.

ok i "solved" the mystery of the sample NULL errors, i have the custom sound pack by Jiver installed in my "my_presents" and "my_samples" folder.

now the wind i was hearing with the turned off engine actually comes from this Custom sound pack by jiver, i disabled it for testing, and there was absolute silence with turned off engine in flight with just the basic CUP sound....

the engines all sound very different too... not sure which ones i like better, i guess i have to test around. interesting though that the custom soundpack by jiver does seem to work (and does not affect flyby sound), eventough you get those errors.. hmm.

Well FWIW  - both of my_presets and my_samples are empty?
I believe the only sound I hear, which I find excellent,    :)   is the stock Tigers.

Thanks for taking the time to test that Decipher. I for one like the way it was set up before (ModAct 5.3+basic MA options for example):
Sound with closed canopy = Basic sound = engine sound when canopy is  closed
Sound with opened canopy = quieter basic sound + "loud" wind sound.

Currently, the opened-canopy and closed-canopy engine sounds are very different (sounds a bit strange to me).

I may open a dedicated topic for that as I would like to know whether this is:
A. as intended.
B. a missing feature that can be added easily.
C. a missing feature that cannot be added because of some limitation with the built-in TigerSound mod.

Anyways, thanks for the time you took to test it.

Quick question: is there Zuti’s Friction mod included in C.U.P.?
I'm asking because I've imported to CUP my map made in DBW 1.71 - in which Zuti’s Friction mod was implemented and working - and Zuti’s Friction mod doesn't work here...
