3 He-177 A-5's from II./KG 40
« on: March 05, 2015, 05:07:33 PM »

Building off the first skin I posted here (a skin of He-177 A-5 "F8+KP), here is a pack of 3 skins of He-177 A-5's from II/KG 40, captured at Toulouse–Blagnac in late August 1944. These include F8+AP (W.Nr. 550062), F8+DP (W.Nr. ??5445) and finally a slightly improved F8+KP (W.Nr. ?). These machines had been stationed at Bordeaux–Mérignac since late 1943, flying anti-shipping duties with the Hs-293 guided bomb. After it's capture, F8+AP received French markings, and was later sent to Britain to undergo testing and evaluation, eventually being scraped, probably sometime in the 50's. I don't know the fate of the other two, but they would presumably have been scrapped soon after the war.

As always comments and criticism is greatly appreciated.

Great skins!! Love 'em. Thank you very much.

Any chance of your making a blank skin and one with markings only?

Ah yes, MrMoonlight, that was a complete oversight by me, so here you go:

And thank you all for your compliments, there really is a serious lack of skins for this plane, which is the only reason my amateur ass started to skin.

Which reminds me, max_thehitman was gonna release one of his great skin packs for the He-177 months ago, apparently he'd made new detailed templates and all, hope he hasn't changed his mind and abandoned us ...  :(

Wow...talk about fast service!

Thanx for the blanx :)

Yeah, hope Max finishes up his skins at some point. The 177 is such a cool plane, it should be gettin' more love.

These are awesome skins, but they don't quite look right around the lower cockpit anymore with the latest version on the HE-177 in BAT 3.6 Blitz. This version has solid panels on some of the lower front cockpit. Any plans on updating the skins for this new version?

Thanks!

Great skins Dude  8) Love your skin art! Great details and correct colors.
Thank you very much !  ]cheers[

Yes indeed , I have created a new and more detailed skin-template for this aircraft many years ago, also did a few skins,
but never posted it.
The reason is, I knew that there might be some changes to the model when it would be finally released, in this case it has
now been released in "patch 4.14".

When someone sent me the BETA version of the airplane to start on some skins, I knew that something was not yet right with
the model, because it needs 2 sets of diferent skins to make one complete skin.    So I waited to see if this problem would
be fixed in the future.
Because then all the old skins would have to be re-painted all over again.

I still have not tested or flown the latest model version (I must do that very soon) and I will check out what else is new
or has been changed in this new 3d-model , so I can make the necessary changes in the skin-template.
Then I will post my skin-template for everyone to use.
My skin-templates are not perfect, because very good blueprints are hard to find, and I some times use close-up photos from manuals
to see  better all the little details which never come in blueprints.
So my version of the skin-template is a little diferent, but never perfect.

I will post it for you guys and gals very soon  ]salut[

I think the big difference between the two versions is the tail.

But as a personal matter, I prefer to keep the old version.  ;)
