Hi Max. Have you seen the book Heinkel 177/277/274 by Manfred Griehl and Joachim Dressel. Published by Airlife in 1998. It contains several wartime factory drawings of the He177 series and cross sections of the interiors. If you can find it it may help with your skins.

These are awesome skins, but they don't quite look right around the lower cockpit anymore with the latest version on the HE-177 in BAT 3.6 Blitz. This version has solid panels on some of the lower front cockpit. Any plans on updating the skins for this new version?

Thanks!

Laen

Hi, I've been out of the game for a while, but I updated to see what changes have been made the Greif. The problem is that the areas around the cockpit can't be changed by changing skins, those areas are determined by the default skin, so the only way to change it is to change the default skin. In previous versions the default skin was a little different and without the mottling if I recall correctly, and my skins were sort of tailored around that.

Do this:

1- Launch a mission from QMB with the desired plane skin.
2- Quit the mission and go for your PaintSchemes folder.
3- Inside it you'll find the Cache folder.
4- inside Cache folder just copy the skin1o.TGA + skin1o.TGB + skin1p.TGA + skin1q.TGA  and paste inside the plane's summer folder. Here the path:
e.g. = 06__Blackburn_B-24_Skua_v1.2m > 3do > plane > Skua > summer.

So... QMB > pic your skin > Mission > quit mission > PaintSchemes > Cache > copy TGA and TGB images and paste inside "whatever plane" > 3do > plane > summer.

Cheers.

... if you don't want your cache folder to grow very big, like several gigs big, you only need to edit your conf.ini like this:

[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=0
mapPadX=0.6536458
mapPadY=-0.0712963
viewSet=59
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=1
NoChatter=0
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=0
iconTypes=3
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=0
3dgunners=1
ClearCache=1  <== replace =0 by =1 so that your cache is emptied upon exiting the game

Sorry to be an idiot, and I'm sure this isn't the right place to ask this, but where exactly do I put the .tga and .tgb files. I mean in the old days there was the MODS folder and I would have put them in \MODS\MyMod\3do\plane\He-177-A3\summer, but where do I put them now?

... depending upon your game version, the old Mods folder may bear another name, like #SAS for ex ...  ;)

... but anyway, whatever your Mods folder is named, the new files should replace the ones in the "summer" (or "desert" or "winter" depending on the skin) folder, inside the "plane" folder of a given aircraft ...  ;)
