Locked control surfaces
« on: March 21, 2015, 07:55:44 AM »

I'm now turning Il2 into a true flight simulator using an E6-B flight computer and navigating over long distances without a player map icon.

In Il2 V4.12.2 we have level stabilizers for all aircraft.

There are times when I would like to circle a point while I use the whiz wheel for my next waypoint. Yes, I suppose I could set a "Patrol" waypoint and go to autopilot but this doesn't work online in co-op missions and what happens when I'm not at a "Patrol" waypoint? In real life I could use my knees to "lock" the stick or yoke (sort of like you do with the steering wheel on your vehicle [NOT recommended!]). My setup doesn't give me that option however as the base of my CH Products "Fighterstick" is too wide.

Trimming works to a certain extent but not all aircraft have trim on all three axes which is what would be required for tighter turns. I could use the trim wheels on the "Fighterstick" but not everyone uses one of these.

With all this in mind would there be some way to "lock" the controls in the last position? I envision going into a rate one turn and, hopefully, after the two minutes I would have the solution for the next waypoint.

Thanks for any consideration.
