Does anyone have a technique for ending an escort before the end of the mission (assuming no enemy interference)?  When I "Set" the fighter aircraft to escort a bomber, I am unable to stop escorting until the end of the mission.  I would like to stop escorting after returning to allied air space.

Anyone?

Hmmm, it didn't work for me.  I'm in CUP so I don't know if it behaves differently but I "set" the target at WP 2 and again "set" the same target at WP 3 but it continues the escort to the last WP #7.

If you have 'command' of the fighters have you tried the "Abort" command in the comms menu during the mission?

No, I'm looking to control the planes while building the mission so they stop escorting during "Auto Pilot".  Thanks anyway!  I'm beginning to think you just can't do it...

Hi,

there is a little trick I've learned in a thread around here on this forum (can't remember who wrote it, sorry for him) and that I use to achieve this : in the mission builder set the escorted bombers to land somewhere, the fighters will leave them the waypoint just before. If you set this waypoint near the frontline you're done. Hope this helps. If my english is too disastrous I will post a pic later.

Alexandre, thanks.  That does work.  I guess I'll have to change my mission so that the bombers land first to make this work.  I previously had them flying to a base in the rear while the fighters landed nearer to the front line.

As far as I can remember, when they split the bombers and the fighters become totally independent so you can land them wherever you want. Maybe you'll have to experiment. You can also search the forum on that subject, I know it was discussed on a number of occasions before. Here is a pic of a mission I've done time ago, the planes were flying as expected.

alexandre, thanks.  I have been doing some experimenting splitting them up and I think I have a way for them to do what I want now.
